    Turn off the TV

I think this country would be a lot better if everyone just turned off their TV. I don't care if you're a republican, a democrat, high school-er or ph.d holder, the media is out of control and influencing people in ridiculous ways by confusing Americans and holding their attention to things that don't matter at all.

Even news channels are so biased they are labeled conservative news and liberal news. What happened to just reporting the news? Every channel leads me to be concerned, even my old favorites like the history channel, military channel, and discovery (simply because they present things in a dangerous 'THIS IS THE WAY IT IS or WAS' fashion) ; much less channels like Vh1 and MTV... have you ever seen the material those channels present? There IS a difference between entertainment and brainwashing, and I think the media conglomerates have stepped way over this line.

If you are unsure of what cultural hegemony is I highly suggest you research it because it is happening in America Today, and it's working because people like you and me watch way too much TV, and because people are natural followers. This isn't some conspiracy theory, it is being taught in universities all around the globe to people like advertising, media, and communication majors as the way our culture is constructed.

I think the most patriotic thing any of us could do right now is turn off our TV's because we will see problems how they are and not how the media wants us to see them because once the media shows you how a problem "is", it becomes difficult to backtrack and "unthink".

Once you see how problems are, then start writing your legislature. I think this one simple step will help get America back on track.

Plus, the time and $$ you save on not having TV = more time and $$ to send rounds down range.

    Thanks for reading.

I don't watch any TV Nat News anymore.
I do watch the Local News.
Tonight I am watching Part 2 of Meteor!
Giant Meteor Kasandra Ready To Impact Earth!......We're All Going To Die!

I record everything that I want to watch so that I can watch it later and Fast Forward through all of the commercials.

Good thinking QKshooter. I wish everyone had the option of fast forwarding the commercials because that would solve a good portion of the problem. I just wish the majority had the good sense to see which shows were making them feel bad about themselves. My girlfriend loves The Hills, and America's Next Top Model and all those other shows that make females question how pretty they are. Really bums me out.

We haven't even had the rabbit ears hooked up since the SuperBowl. Just doing my part.

The downside to this is when we travel and stay in a hotel with cable, we're mesmerized!

Pretty much the only thing I turn the T.V. on for is Boxing. I'd rather read.

HBO , in honor of the late Arturo "Thunder" Gatti ran the three fights that he had with Mickey Ward this weekend. Amazing stuff. Gatti had lots of fights like those, against Ivan Robinson, Wilson Rodrigues, Gaberiel Ruelas, pure fire and desire.

I agree. The great thing about recording programs is to blast through the commercials. As far as all the 'experts', and we all know who they are, I do not care what they think. I wish G.Gordon Liddy and Judge Judy could run our country. If you do not mind a bit of foul language,Tim Wilson,a country type comedy singer, has a YouTube video called 'But I could be wrong' There is a censored and uncensored version on YouTube. This song takes note of a lot of what is wrong with our media. Beware the raw version has bad language for those of you who would be offended.

But..but...Barney Miller re-runs just came on!

Seriously though, I agree. I really only watch Fox News or the History channel, and lately even the History channel has been slipping in some pseudo scientific enviro propaganda into some of their shows.

    Thumbs up

For the past 10-12yrs, I have watched very little. In fact, the only reason I have a television is to watch old films. When analog switched to digital, I didn't really notice. Generally speaking, I would much rather read a book or three.

It's amazing how much time you can free up. It's amazing how much spin, lies and deceit you can sidestep by avoiding most "news" interpretations as events happen.

And how exactly are we supposed to receive our subliminal programming from our leaders without TV?
