    Suspicious Character!

I was out doing my patrol of the community in my capacity as head of the Neighborhood Watch. I usually try to get out there on the weekends during "prime time" -- around 10:00 pm or so, when even the young'uns are still out raising hell but long before the hardcore drinkers come stumbling back home. (that's more like 1:00 a.m.). Anyway, I asked a group of kids who were playing in the parking lot to go somewhere other than the parking lot, lest they be run down by the cars that come through way too fast (but that's another problem).

I continued my usual patrol, checking with my FL6 Lumaray (my preferred neighborhood Watch light) behind buildings and in dark spots where people can hide and smoke pot. (I spend a lot of time sniffing my way through patrols -- it's very informative and we've had some recurring problems with people hanging out in the nearby park and such to get high.)

On my way back through, I saw the same group of kids, now in the company of a grownup. "There he is," they said. I walked over. Turns out that they thought I was suspicious and went to get assistance! I laughed, explained that I was the Neighborhood Watch guy (much to everyone's relief), and vowed to be more obvious and identify myself when interacting with others in the future. (We circulatd fliers but apparently nobody reads the damned things.) I also congratulated the kids on their instincts.

It's a shame that, to date, the most suspicious character I've managed to nab is... me.

Go put yourself in a cell over night Phil - you'll feel the guilt has been assuaged

Glad someone is around to keep an eye on things cos sure as heck the cops can't be everywhere. I assume you carry - (silly question!).

You think so? Sounds like a good neighborhood to me, thanks (at least in part) to your efforts.

    Thumbs up Phil

It's great that you're out keeping an eye on things in your immediate neighborhood. We need more good, responsible people to do that.

Hey, Phil next time take a copy of Burce's avatar and show the kids what a real suspicious character looks like.
