With that kind of speed does it come with seatbelts and airbags?

Congrats on the new comp. Electronics certainly seem to buck the general trend of rising prices. In the electronics world, we are constantly getting more (memory, performance, etc) for less money.
Now if we could just get energy and health costs to do the same thing!

New computer? Bought it yesterday? Well, it is obsolete today.
Amazing how fast these things have become. I hope you enjoy all the new speed. Careful not to get a ticket.

Congratulations. I too got a new computer after a catastrophic failure of my old one. Intel quad core with 8 gig of ram. But I am using an old 15 inch monitor.

Hey congrats on the new machine. I too recently got a new machine after so many years of using old tech. It is amazing what a difference it made.
You mentioned Explorer, I don't know if you meant Internet Explorer or not, but if you do, do yourself and the computer a favor and use these three programs. First is CCleaner, CCleaner - Home this keeps the crud out of the computer. It is very safe and if you read up on it, you can see it has some great little apps, esp. the one where you can decide which programs to run at startup. This is AWESOME as you can gain control over your computer again. It also will keep the usual Windows ridden Internet junk cleaned up.
Second is TCPOptimizer, http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe this will let you take full advantage of your broadband as it will set up your networking to use the full bandwidth you pay for. Again, safe and very effective. I pay for a 15Mbit connection and on my Windows machine it made a huge difference in the speed. It does it's job and it is super simple. Just slide the rule to the advertised download speed of your connection, then lower right, select the optimized settings and hit ok. Restart your network connection or even restart your computer and it does the rest.
Third is Firefox. Free secure safe browser. Ditch all of the EI8 junk. Version 3.5 is out and it has all kinds of goodies.
Or, use Linux Ubuntu and forget about all of the Windows quirks, but I don't know your tech level. I would also recommend joining PCMech - Computers and Technology for Normal People forums, lots of helpful people there.
Get a router if you don't already, this is important esp. if you use windows and also lose any Norton Anti-Virus, you may have to google Norton removal, as it doesn't usually all come out with an uninstall. Use AVG, it is free and light. Others can chime in with their AV advice as I use Linux and I am immune to all of that crud.
These will help to keep your 'puter light and running fast. If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask, if I can't answer it I can point you in the right direction!!!
Have fun and try not to exceed the speed of light!!!
