You went to sleep on it because you are a guy and you expected it to be better when you woke up, cause thats what guys do.
The only problem is, sometimes it don't work out that way.
I went to bed for 3 weeks hoping that my foot would get better after a large tree limb fell right on top of it. I knew that it hurt like heck, but figured it'd get better.
One day I woke up and it was so swelled up I couldn't get my boot on. After much verbal abuse she took me to an orthopedic surgeon, who happens to be one of my turkey hunting buddies. He xrayed it and when I walked out I had one of those "walking boots" on, what they use instead of a cast now.
I caught flack for that for weeks..as you will. Even more so that your wife is in the medical profession.
So now you are on light duty I suppose? Can you even drive? Sitting at a desk gets real old, real quick and you will go stir crazy.

I was planning on coming up with some cool story to tell, like I was sky diving or alligator wrestling, but word spread to fast. They all know now, and they have been already calling to make fun of me. I'm sure some will stop by the house tonight to make fun in person.

Yeah, they will give me light duty. I have to be off for a few days though. I'm sure they will come up with some project for me to work on at the station or down at city hall. It's not my first choice, but I'm glad they will do that for me.

Moving carpet sucks don't it? Or did the coffee table run out in front of you? Get well soon.

I am truely sorry to hear your story.
I have a problem with pine cones. I like to roll my ankles on them.
Here's to a swift recover. I know how I hated cast in the summer time.

Maybe Bumper can use you while your recovering? :-)

And yes, it has become an annual event. I never was a clumsy type, maybe its because I'm getting older and I've finally accepted the fact that I'm not a kid.[/QUOTE]
You old???? naaaaaaaa......come on its between friends..what really happened???
Hope you get better my friend!!

I broke my leg when I was on patrol during a foot pursuit (fell in a construction pit). I spent the first couple of weeks stuck on the front desk. Then they put me in radio for the rest of the time. I think I preferred the front desk. Dispatching was frustrating, to say the least.

Well, here I am again, telling ya'll to hang on I'll be around a lot more.
Last night I broke my leg. No cool, macho story to go along with the cast. I simply tripped and fell in my living room. Nothing exciting, except my wife yelled at me when she found out I crawled upstairs and went to sleep after the fall, waiting until morning to go to the ER.
No alcohol, guns, fighting, cars, motorcycles or explosions involved. I guess there is a first time for everything.
As they say in show business go out and "Break a Leg"
Thought the humor might help a bit...
Get well soon.

So what's worse, a broken leg from home, or debilitating road rash from work?

Oh man! Sorry to hear it.
You DO need to have this thread deleted, and come up with a good story. Take the mulligan.
Heal fast friend!

Sorry to hear about your leg SIXTO.
The least you could have done though was make up a good story about how you were saving your rookie from getting ran down by a doped up drunken gangbanger and you snatched them out of the way, but got hit by the car yourself. You know, just the ordinary everyday hero stuff!

That sucks dude....you dont seem like an inactive guy to start with and stir crazy will probably set in like it would me. Hope you get back fast.

I guess we can call you a gumshoe for awhile.
I'd go for blaming it on your wife.
She must have rearranged the furniture or something.
