    Melancholy days

Summer is slipping away and I sure miss the long hours of daylight. I still haven't finished the winter-proofing on the house (I only started eleven years ago, maybe twelve) and before long it will be cold. I do love summer here in Western North Carolina. Oh well, off to buy another caulk gun to join the other 11 or 12 I have lost or loaned... jh

Was just in Morganton last week, thats some great looking countryside up there but the walking was rough on a fat flatlander!
It is pardonable to be defeated but never surprised.

Melancholy? No way! The weather's cooling off, the trees are going to be blazing with incredible color, it'll be time to go apple-picking and off to all the local county fairs...this is the perfect time of year! :)

But *hugs* for your melancholy anyway ;)

I guess it depends on your favorite time of year, just like everybody likes different flavors of ice cream (though for the life of me, I can't understand why chocolate almond isn't Everybody's favorite)

But, yes, the days of summer are indeed slipping away like wisps of fog. As I type this, I can look out my back windows, see the clear blue, cloudless sky, our cows happily eating away and the thermometer at a brisk 41 degrees......

I am starting to see just a few hints of red, orange and gold in some of the mountain greenery here in upstate NY. There is still some time to go before I move the tractor to the rear and bring the snoblower to the front.
