Our chances of surviving a zombie attack......
Looks like scientists don't think we would survive.
In order to give humans a better shot, the study, which was completed by researchers at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, focused on the classic depiction of zombies: ie, slow moving and stupid, as opposed to modern variants that are fast, cunning, and more dangerous. Unfortunately, the scenario still didn't bode so well for us un-undead folks.

I think with a little lead osmosis treatment for our undead friends, our odds would go up.

Yes we would. Undoubtedly. As long as we continue to diligently train a new generation of Zombie-Hunters, that is.

Robots are easy... just get a Super Soaker :P
this might do for both zombies and robots...

If you didn't catch the story, some guy hid a 12ga shotgun in the shell of a super soaker.

Heck! We beat them Triffids by spraying salt water on 'em, if memory serves. How do we know that you can't dezombie a zombie with chicken soup. When I wuz a kid it cured everything else.

From the article cited in the OP:
"But modeling a so-called "zombie plague" scenario has distinct real world benefits. Such a plague in many ways mimics a powerful infectious disease--the kind of which is spreading faster due to climate change. "
Great. Add one more consequence to runaway global warming: zombie attacks. Clearly the global warming zealots need to go back to the drawing board.

I don't know. I think the "rage virus" zombies would be a much bigger problem than the slow George Romero ones. I am fortunate enough to live in a gated community that has either a wall or fence all the way around. The "rage virus" ones would just climb over. The Romero ones we could just close the gates and check our adult beverage supply.

I think playing "Slim Whitman" records incredibly loud should do the trick. It worked in Mars Attacks.

I have always been convinced that a population of predators who consume their prey/would-be progeny would be unlikely to reproduce in massive numbers. Only people who were bitten and managed to escape would become new zombies; the rest would presumably be ripped apart and eaten, thus not creating many more new undead.
Of course, that wouldn't make for a very good movie...
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.
