This is a discussion on Glenn Beck (NOT political - please!) within the Off Topic & Humor Discussion forums, part of the The Back Porch category; Beck is doing this week-long "special" that's supposed to be some sort of build-up to his announcing a "plan of action" on Friday. I don't ...
Beck is doing this week-long "special" that's supposed to be some sort of build-up to his announcing a "plan of action" on Friday.
I don't want to get into the politics, why you hate/like Beck, how he's wrong or right - that will just get the thread locked.
What I'd like to do is get your speculation about what you think this "plan of action" is going to be. Another 9/12 type meetup? A tea party? A march on Washington? A new political party? Where do you think he's going with this?

He may be an entertainer in a lot of peoples eyes... However, he seems to be pretty effective. Otherwise, the far left politicians wouldn't be trying to discredit him by name. When Democrat Congressmen stand up and say... "Don't watch Glen Beck", they are in essence saying... "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"
I believe what Glen is doing is shining light on the nest of cock roaches making them scatter.
I believe he has been pretty effective in providing the evidence of what he asserts and that is what has a major component of Congress livid, and wringing their hands.
I'm not sure what this weeks "end game" is going to be, but thus far, I don't see where his inquiries are or have been off base!
I will say that Fox News has invested a lot of money in him. He has a pretty large support group from the network helping him gather and present his research in his quest to "connect the dots" and expose what, and who is behind the scene's of the administration.
Can anyone refute the accuracy of the backgrounds of the people Obama has surrounded himself with and appointed to high positions in the administration?
From their own mouths, the people Obama has appointed have admitted to being, everything from Socialists, to Marxists, to even an admitted Communist. And these are those individuals own admissions. Who you gonna believe? The words of the Congressmen defending Obama or you own, "lying eyes" after seeing these people speak in their own words?
All CNN tried to do was hold him back.
Just my opinion, your mileage may vary!

I expect to hear that we should seriously think about our votes and get 90% of all officials (dems and republicans) out of office. We need to elect officials that have our interests in mind, not theirs or the special interest groups that fund their campaigns. If you haven't read Common Sense, "Thomas Paine and Glenn Beck's, you should). I'm getting closer to becoming a Libertarian vs a Republican.
Common Sense is worth the read.
Someone has to be an advocate for the truth. Something insidious is happening in this country and there's too many heads in the sand!
Throw all the Bums out is a plan that sounds good to me.

More truth comes out of the mouth of Glenn Beck in one hour than the entire remainder of the media all year.
When I was in Junior High a hot topic of discussion in civics classes was the influence of advertisers on editorial content. One side argued that advertisers set editorial policy-- he who pays the piper calls the tune. The other side argued that newspaper editorials were not influenced by their advertisers.
Of course it was a silly discussion. Both are somewhat true. The editorial writer (or the tv entertainer) can opine as he/wishes. The advertisers can stay or go as they chose.
I have heard that Beck lost 36 advertisers. I suspect that Fox itself has lost some of the same advertisers.
We shall soon find out who calls the tune, the piper, or the customer.
My guess, Beck is history, unless Rupert wants to pay for the shows himself, which he probably can afford to do.
The fact is everyone is part of one special interest group or another. We are 300+ million people each with our own individual interests and needs. There is no such thing as a policy that will please all, or please even a consistent plurality. That is why everything is so contentious and difficult and getting legislation on anything is tough.
Every law ever passed has benefited some, and gored others. It doesn't matter if the issue is employment law or if the issue is insurance law. It doesn't matter if the issue is energy policy or gun policy. The only thing we can hope for is either unsatisfactory compromise or the satisfaction of a slim majority of the population and dissatisfaction of the rest.
This by the way is precisely why "common sense" solutions can not happen. One person's common sense is another person's moronic idea.
Actually I believe that the original story was 6 sponsors. I think two have moved back. (not sure)
But, none of the sponsors dropped Fox...they just shifted their advertising dollars to another slot.
So Fox has not lost any money.
OK no...I got that wrong since last week. 33 total.
But, Glenn Beck is not going away.
I don't watch TV so I have never watched his show, but have heard that he lost some sponsors and the UPS Stores has pulled all off their ads of FOX.
That being said I still think the Beck is the top rated show on FoxNews, so I think he will be around for awhile

I gotta admit, I've been watching Beck for a while now. He's got my attention.

I agree with what I've heard from him so far. But, like I tell my step-daughter: Truth is truth, even if you don't like the person speaking it.
I don't care if he's a "celebrity" or an "entertainer" or if he's making money hand over fist; I judge what he says and not the forum he uses or his popularity with others (or lack thereof).
Having said that, I have no idea what GB is cooking up, but I'm very interested in hearing it.
