back pain remedies?
I keep pulling my lower back, been happening for a couple of years now I think. Anyway it usually puts me down for a day maybe, so nothing super severe or anything, but extremely inconvenient. I pulled it tonight and I'm pretty much out now. I've got some aspercream and that's all for now.
Any of you found anything that works really good for lower back pain? a certain way to lay or stretch, etc?
800 mg ibuprofen works pretty good for me. I had to take it 2 days last week when I got out of bed before I went to work. I hate thinking what it is doing to my stomach and liver, so I only take it when it is real bad.
I'm not sure what your routine is, but I do know that more exercise in general is usually a good way to avoid things like this. Even if it's just walking or doing real basic weight training to strengthen those muscles that keep getting pulled. When they get stronger, they get harder to injure.

I wouldn't be stretching the sore muscles until the pain goes away. You're only going to aggravate the problem.

Have you tried Biofreeze?
A large Rum ration works great,its inexpensive and relaxes muscles better than most drugs and you control the dosage.

First let me state my qualifications to speak on this subject :- One fine day at work, well getting coffee in an empty basement break-room, I was perfectly O.K. until I tried to lift my cup to my lips. Not recommending that to any one, but a guy does what a guy has to do.
After that, I began to wear shoes with lots of cushioning under the heels, and lately I wear these "funky" MBT shoes which shift the weight to the center of the foot instead of the heel so the shock from taking steps doesn't transmit as much to the backbone.
Whoever said ibuprofen hit the nail on the head. That and rest. Then when the pain is gone try mild exercise. A physical therapist or a doc can give you instructions but you can also google for them.
I also keep a back-brace (the kind used by folks who handle heavy stuff) in the car and in the house and take it with me when I travel. There are times when I could not stand up were it not for the brace. Fortunately, these are in the distant past.
All of this said, I strongly recommend checking on the footwear. I don't think I have had a back ache now in very many years, and I know it is from changing the type of footwear I use. I always buy shoes large enough to allow room to add the thick shock absorbing inner sole inserts. These help tremendously. I think regular work on Krav and Arnis also helps.
*Dawg had a bad back too, which was why she had the prednisone, and was eventually "put to sleep" as they say. I had to carry her to the vet for the ceremony because she couldn't lift herself into the car. The vet also had a bad back. He said his x-rays looked just like the dogs. He's out of business. I don't know if he was put to sleep.
I also have lower back issues.
One thing that really helps me is
a device called a back bridge. You can
find them online. Basically you lay on a
curved piece of wood for 10 minutes or so a day
they have several bridges that have more curve and
you slowly work your way up to the ones with more curve.
really good for better posture and back probs.
Try to fix the issue instead of covering up the problem
with meds. good luck
Fixed former back issues by;
1.lots of rest on firm bed.
2.strengthen stomach muscles, exercise.
what has helped me in the past is to lay face down on the bed with my torso hanging over the edge and my wife holding my feet down. I then raise my torso and lower it repeatedly in sort of a reverse sit up. Don't bring yourself up so far that it hurts. Do this gently. For me it had the effect of decompressing the spine and relaxing and strengthening the lower back muscles. I'm no Dr. and can't say it will work for you. I do know that the exercise along with 800mg of ibuprofen has helped me and strengthened my lower back.
