How's this for fast?

I started out reading this article in which the British team Bloodhound Supersonic Car is being prepared to go 1000 MPH on land.
Out of curiosity, I looked up the fastest air speed record. I came upon this article in Wikipedia Flight airspeed record - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia As I was interested in what the fastest speed was, in no particular altitude or class of aircraft, I looked at the bottom. What I found is either grossly incorrect, or nigh incomprehensible:
November 16, 2004 Unmanned 7,546 MPH 12,144 KHM NASA X-43A Air-launched hypersonic scramjet

If my math is right, it would take 23 minutes to traverse the United States!:popout2: Really incredible. Again if my math is right, it would take approx .697 seconds to go 1 mile. That is truly amazing!

I haven't found anything yet. What are your results?

The fastest man made object is the Helios spacecraft at 150,000mph or 241,350 km/h

That will get you around the equator in about 10 minutes...

That reminds me of a sign at a coffee shop. One of the lines on it said , you know you drink to much coffee when it is faster to change the channel without the remote!

I think the human body tops out at 200 mph because of wind resistance. Of course, in space, that wouldn't be a problem, but an unvehicled human in space will have other problems more pressing.
