I'll be sure to carry mine center of mass from now on.

I wonder how it fares against a .45

Even better if penetration is your only concern. Remember, thanks to du chatelet's 1/2mass x velocity^2 the .45 has only slightly more kinetic energy than the 9mm because the loss in velocity very nearly offsets the increase in mass. This means that the 9mm imparts approximately the same amount of force to a significantly smaller area which means greater penetration (this applies only to ball ammo).

If he had shot the iPhone with a 10mm, not only would it have destroyed the iPhone, it would killed everyone listed in his Address Book.

Ive shot a 40gig Harddrive before and the round didnt penetrate. Went clean through the cover, the platter, the board and lodged the in thick pot metal backing cracking it.

9mm 115gr FMJ, load 4.65gr Universal, distance was 18 yards.

You could certainly make a home made vest by strapping 2 layers of HDDs onto a jacket.

That would be an extremely strange fashion statement. And it would be heavy as heck.

Hmmm. I've got a box of old hard drives in the basement. I wonder how many there are...

I have the remnants of a hard drive hanging on the wall above my desk at work. It too, had been shot with a .40 S&W out of my 24/7. The 180gr FMJ round did not exit the opposite side of the platters, though it did punch a small tear in the last platter.

One thing I noticed in shooting various hard drives (with the .40) is, penetration is not so much related to how many platters are in the drive, but more, the spacing between the platters. Those with platters spaced closer together are penetrated more easily.

The maximum effective range of an excuse is zero meters.
