It's the last day of SUMMER here on the Colorado Prairie (NOT up in the mountains) and it is snowing!
Snowing like crazy up on those big rock piles to the west of here.
Stop that stupid "Cap & Trade" legislation. :aargh4:

FYI: That global warming is occurring does not mean it won't snow in Colorado. Do some reading.
"Crap and Tax" is dead on arrival... if they can't sell "free" health care to the American people, they will never sell an average $1,700 per household increase in energy costs.
And you need to read up... it isn't "global warming" any more, because the last few years have cooled, but environmental kooks need a crisis. So, it's been re-packaged and re-labeled as "climate change"...
It's all trends, you see. The inescapable trend is for warming. That doesn't mean it won't be cooler in some years than the previous year. A record snowstorm or low temp doesn't validate or invalidate the trend, any more than a record drought or record high temp. Look at the overall.
Of course, there's the whole group that's ideologically, rather than scientifically, opposed to recognizing the trend. This group won't accept any evidence that's contrary to their belief system, just like creationists, birthers, PETA, the Brady Organization, and others of that ilk.
The earth follows warming and cooling cycles that are measured in thousands of years, not dozens. The scientific concern is that there is a temperature "tipping point" at which the climate is going to suffer a domino effect of disasters. However, scientists (real scientists, mind you) will openly admit that they don't know where that tipping point is.
The two biggest obstacles to drawing a reasonably accurate conclusion are:
1. The unpredictability of solar behavior, and
2. The significant lack of worldwide, real time data for anything before 1970
They can dig up all the core samples they want, but these are a poor substitute for having actual climate measurements from multiple locations around the world. Considering they have less than 50 years' worth of hard global data for a planet they claim is 4 billion years old, it doesn't take a Bronx bookie to see the odds favor making an error.
The change in global climate is something that can only be watched, not altered; and therein lies the foolishness and the opportunity for some crafty folks to make a buttload of money. Consider how many megatons of crap are spewed into the atmosphere by one--just ONE--medium volcano blast and you'll see the futility of trying to save the planet with environmental legislation.
JumpWing sez...
I've heard several so-called "experts" say that tipping point may be only 20-40 years off, and even a few that say that we may only have a decade to change course. This, of course, is absolute rubbish, and the actions of governments around the world support that. Our own EPA is suppressing reports that "do not help the legal or policy case"...Quote:

No government seems to really believe this is a life-or-death situation, or there would be dramatic action globally. For instance, China is putting a new coal fired electrical plant online every week. Both China and India have made it very clear that they will not take part in any global treaty that limits or penalizes CO2 emissions.
So... if the government REALLY thought we only have a decade or two to reverse the so-called trend, wouldn't we be threatening them with harsh sanctions for continued coal usage? If this were a truly a matter of the survival of the US (and all people around the world), wouldn't we be targeting Chinese coal plants with cruise missiles...? Our very survival as a species is on the line, right...?
Puh-leeeeeze....
The Earth goes through cycles of warm and cold, some more intense than others. Greenland is called Greenland because it was GREEN when it was discovered by Europeans a few hundred years ago... today, not so much...
High of 44 F here today, was snowing in Woodland and raining at the airport by 9:30. Fall is officially here and letting us know it!
The best theory for the performance of the climate was put forth by Milutin Milankovi? - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia who lived from 1879 to 1958. This time span is important since it predates the politicization of the climate by a cadre of environmental extremists. Like other extremists, anti 2A, for example, these people have no interest whatsoever in any logical position that varies from their faith.
No sane person argues episodes of ice and tropics did not occur before and since men walked the earth. Milankovic demonstrated the correlation of climate and the periodic changes in the earths orbit/rotational axis. I personally examined and performed mechanical strength tests on core samples of the limestone in Missouri. I found fossils of warm sea creatures from cores that were 200 feet deep in the layer. These things were in my own hands. I touched them. Core samples tested in direct tension typically broke at some small fossil or flaw present in the limestone. That means at one time in the past, warm tropical oceans covered parts of Missouri. Eons before man walked the earth. It has happened before and will happen again. The thing is it happens slowly, so we need not panic. First of all, there is nothing we can do to change this climatic cycle. Second, if we were able to change anything, we should be doing everything we can to warm the place up. The next two hundred years are predicted to cool.
The crime is that an otherwise respectable political party in the USA has allowed these environmental nuts access to political power. Of course the politicians only see this as an opportunity to expand government and their power. The cynical destruction of the ability of the US to manufacture and mine within our own borders insures we will be overcome by countries that do not suffer fools in matters of national survival.
In spite of the concerted attempt to deceive the people of our country, more and more people are waking up to the truth on global warming. And for those that denigrate the core samples, astronomy, and many other disciplines that I have little knowledge of, what is your explanation of the geological evidence so readily available to even lowly engineers such as my self. There is an explanation right. Right. Please enter it in the space below. Keep it simple.
I will make it easy. Just address the karst topography in Missouri and describe how it came about without man to warm up the area millions of years ago.
Oh please give credit where it is due Al Gore single handedly saved the planet from certain doom!
Why in just a few short years the planet has began to recover to what winter snow falls and temperatures were fifty years ago.
And to think a man of such greatness just missed being president.
"Don't let a good running crisis go to waste"
The earth has had climate change.
The earth will continue to have climate change.
Why would we think otherwise? In the 1970s we were involved in heated discussions about global cooling. It is all about control of the masses and fortunes to be made by some.

Fall is definitely here we had a few clouds and it didn't get over the high 90's
I HATE Florida winters:mad:...then I gotta' pull out the longer shorts.
