I'm no lover of banks but it sounds like an IDIOT employee not the bank itself.
As the "dumbing down" of the U.S.A. has progressed, more of this has happened and will happen.

Bank of America released a statement apologizing for the incident and called it a misunderstanding.
“We want to ensure the community knows how deeply proud we are of the men and women who have sacrificed so much in service to our country,” the statement said. “The bank does fly the American Flag at our locations throughout the country and flags were displayed in front of our banking center in Gaffney the evening prior to our dedicated Marine returning home.”

This is the but one thing that BofA does that isn't ethical.
Mrs. UnklFungus, (would that be AuntFungus?) worked, for a short time, for a company called Teletech & they field phone calls for BofA. BofA does some jacked up things when it comes to your money. Things like debit card authorizations going against the balance of your account, but not showing up online, until approx three days later. Not crediting deposits before deducting withdrawals, not automatically crediting back bounced check fees unless you ask, and preventing the people on the phone from mentioning anything about that to the customer, etc.
True all of this could be avoided, if you are spot on with your checking/debit registers, but I'll have to see if I can get her to state some of the facts of what they do.
