    Easy omelettes

    ZIPLOC OMELET

(This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!)

Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes [we did 15 minutes]. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

i have done something similar... When I'm in a rush in the morning, pop 2 pieces of bread into the toaster, and while thats toasting, mix 2 eggs, a splash of milk, and any misc. left over meats i can find in the fridge together in a square tupper ware bowl, and nuke it till the eggs are done. then pop it out of the plastic, onto the toast, slap on some cheese, and call it a meal..

I prefer mine cooked in a preheated cast iron fry pan, heated over a charcoal grill. Takes a little longer, but it sure tastes good.

I do the bag trick in the microwave. Its quicker and easier. No pot, no burner.

Now that sounds like the ticket to an easy omelet for sure.
    Thanks.

My wife helped out with the Boy Scouts years ago and she came up with that same idea and it really works. She called them bag omlette's and I had never heard of them. We did it with our church kids and a camp out in June and they thought that was the coolest thing.

I'll have to try that one.

    Didja ever do this one?

Toss some butter into a frying pan. Tear the middle out of 2 slices of homemade bread.

Pop the bread slices into the pan and crack an egg into the holes in the bread. Quickly add a pinch of salt & pepper.
Wait a little while and then flip them.
You make yer buttered toast & yer eggs both at the same time.

I found this PIC on the web but, you can make them better looking than this rank amature did.
You need to make them so the yolks don't break.

While this is an easy way to cook omelettes, there is a proven chance that heating plastic bags, especially in the microwave, leeches Dioxins and other poisonous chemicals into your food.
