"The accident was filmed by an audience member, and the tape, Paige claims, was turned over to the DEA." Did the DEA or the audience member release the video? Even if the DEA had a copy there is nothing to stop the person who recorded it from giving it to a local TV station. This guy shot himself in the foot twice and now wants someone else to pay for it.

I think he's SOL. A government employee can't sue the US.

It seems to me, he's NOT suing because he shot himself, he's suing because the DEA let the video get loose.

He alledges that DEA let the video loose. According to the story Paige claims that the person who took the video turned it over to the DEA and the DEA released it. So far no comment from the person who took the video nor DEA. Until some more info is available I don't see how we can really judge the case. Even so to claim that the video is what cause all his problems is just typical of the victim mentality that is so pervasive in our country now. The video may have contributed to his problems, but being an idiot and shoot off his mouth followed by shoot himself in the foot is the root cause of his problems. He violated the safety rules and got burnt how is that the DEAs fault?

I just thought of something and that something is called the Freedom of Information Act. If the person who recorded the video turned it over to the DEA, it is possible that the DEA had no option but to release the video to a news outlet if the news outlet filed a request for it under FOIA. If this is what happened our DEA agent "doesn't have a leg to stand on."

OK Bud - I heard that

This guy trying to file suit is about as ridiculous as the woman who sued Micky D's for getting burned by hot coffee!!! Sorry but - he'd better just learn to take the heat - it ain't goin' away, and tough dodo.

Maybe an extra weapons training class would be a good move!

....if this imbecile was "once regarded as one of the best undercover agents, if not the best, in the DEA," I'd hate to meet the DEA's bad UC agents....they might accidentally shoot me in the foot....

I'm sure if I was the one who had recorded that video, I would certainly not give the DEA the ONLY copy of it that I had. That would just be stupid!

Well, if he would have been NICE to the govt instead of suing them...they could have given him a complete change of identity and relocated him to a different state.
That way...nobody would know that he was the nin-com-poop that plugged himself in the tootsie.

I've got a question. If he is/was such a hot shot undercover agent, why is he showing up in a public school classroom wearing a shirt with the word "POLICE" on it and allowing himself to be videoed? This seems to me to be the wrong way to maintain your cover.

First of all, what idiot even pulls out his firearm to teach a class. An actual weapon is not required to give a "speech" on the subject of weapon safety.

He was being a complete ass trying to show off to kids. When you try to act cool, instead of just being cool, things will often go wrong.

I've never known a LEO to pull his gun for "show and tell." I remember when I was a youngster and interested in law enforcement and guns. I was never able to get a police officer to show me his sidearm. I thought it was policy.
