Miramar Airshow
I just got back from the show! Boy do those Marines know how to lay down some hurt in a hurry. F-18 Hornets and AV-8 Harriers took turns preforming simluated bombing runs. Watched the Canadan air demo team do some thrilling moves. Then a crazy guy in a biplane preformed some cool stuff. There were all sorts of tents set up to explore the latest military hardware, I held a stinger missile launcher. Talk about defensive carry . . :)
Naturally the Navy stole the show . . .

A 9mm might expand but a .45 will never shrink enough to fit 17 in the magazine.

I left Miramar in July. I really wanted to go to the airshow. I was in Iraq for the 2008 airshow, got to go to the 2007 show and worked a booth for our squadron, was in iraq for the 2006 show, iraq for the 2005 show...blah...spent almost 5 years stationed there and only got to go to one airshow!

Airshows are fun to watch but it is even more fun to fly in them, Travis AFB 1979, 1980 and 1984. 1984 was the best one, came across the field at 390 knots at 150 feet in a C5A.

I used to go to the airshows at MCAS El Toro, back when it was still a military base. No, I don't know. Anyone live near it that can tell me what has become of it?
I have been a big fan of the Blue Angels. When they were at El Toro, they would fly low to the treetops and I used to see people hit the deck when they went by!!! Great times!

Those F-18's are amazing agile, in the hands of an expert. It's pure joy to watch them do the things those machines are capable of.

El Toro closed and is now just rotting away. They parked a bunch of FEMA stuff there after katrina. It is just there waiting for the next big thing.

Last time I went to an Airshow was back in 03? I believe at Stewart Air Base in Newburg, NY. The Blue Angels were performing. What an event that was!
If Obama continues his Socialist agenda, we may have Single Engine Cessna 152s painted in US Airforce logo peforming airshows in the not too distant future!

Very nice picture!
I've gone to the big show in Oshkosh every year since 2003. I'm trying to find a picture that doesn't show my N number. (I am the world's worst Photoshop user.) I've seen some great shows there. One year our camp was right where the warbirds would turn out after their takeoff. We had B17s going over that you could have plinked with a slingshot. The only thing is it's in Wisconsin and my CCW license is just a piece of laminated paper there!

Great pic...the guys that fly that close must have 'boys' of steel...and big steel boys at that...
