Any coin collectors here? have question

How much is a 1994 1oz($50) Golden Eagle coin worth. I'd say cond. is excellent but I don't know how to grade coins. How much would something like this be expected to increase in value over the years? Is it just whatever gold is now plus coinage?

The best thing to do is go onto Ebay and search 1 OZ Gold Eagle - you will see an option to search "COMPLETED AUCTIONS ONLY" and use that function to see what "SOLD" dollar amount best matches your exact coin condition and date - and use that to figure out what yours would actually sell for in the real world.

On the plus side it's always going to be worth the daily spot price for 1 Ounce Gold. 24-hour Spot Chart - Gold

1 oz. Gold American Eagles are going for around $1100 on APMEX right now. That would be a reasonable price for the coin as bullion, which is the best you should realistically expect. It might be worth more than that to a collector, but most people I know who collect GAE's aren't into collecting in that way.

It will be worth more to a collector than a dealer. I once tried to get rid of some coins that I had and took them to a dealer. The dealer only offered the "going rate for silver by weight". He barely offered face value for them. I looked in his case and he had several of the same coins (individually) going for 4 times what he offered me for the whole batch. I still have those coins. Find a collector or collectors outlet you will get more for it.

    As of today

Gold spot price closed the day at around $1030-1040 per ounce a new high record. It is always worth at least that. Unless you really need the money I wouldn't part with any precious metals at this point in time. That is JMHO
