    I feel "un-safer" already.

It should be at least as good for security guards as "Dog the Bounty Hunter" has been for the image of bail recovery agents! Lol!

Ha got a chance to watch the show last night. As a former MALL COP myself, I found it entertaining. They are mostly professional and seem to be backed up by professional standards but the level of 'security' they provide is definitely KGB-esque. I think somebody at the top has control issues.

    1. Security required to escort turtle to/from clinic.
    2. Store manager barred from mall property for 1 day for failing to wear and failing to have unexpired ID/Second Offense.

I was especially disturbed to see one SO appease a witchy mom and her 2 crying brats by getting them 4 limited wristbands to see some celebrity when everybody else had to abide by the rules, first 500 only.

They provide medical care and have a HUGE med bag. I wonder to what level they provide care; and if they have an EMS Agency license.

They are 'unarmed' i.e. no firearm and no taser, I did see a collapsible straight baton, not sure about OC. Yeah I know this is standard fare but I was armed when I played mall cop and the Mall of America is, well, special. If I was a Tango I sure would have a special infatuation with that location.

They did say that the S.O.'s were trained in basic first aid and CPR, beyond that they call in the Paramedics. Don't know why the huge bag, but it was large! They may be trained to first responder level.

I thought the same thing about being armed.
I am sure it would be a liability nightmare for an environment like that, and the training that they have available. (Although I would have to say, it looked like they did a really good job of training; 10 weeks! and an FTO. Wow.)
I do agree on the tango though.
What would the S.O.'s do with an active situation?
They would be hiding behind the planters like everyone else, and the tangos would be free to act.

Like I said; Observe and report. No thanks.

When I worked armed security, it was in 2 outlet malls. One in Virginia Beach, the other Williamsburg. Maybe our marketer was just a really good salesman...

We worked in 2 and 3 man teams, problems were minor, but it was nice to know we could defend ourselves. Once I alerted on a suspicious person that ran out of the mall after I gave him special attention. Found out he matched the description of an armed robber loose in the area!

Are you sure it was a baton? There is a high tech device out that is about the same size that is a replacement for the old Detex Watch Clock. It has a sensor on one end and it is held up to RFID buttons that you install around the property for the patrols to hit. Also comes with a spiffy leather holster!

Is it just me... or is there absolutely nothing worth watching on TV, these days? Every time I turn it on and flip through the channels, I turn it off after finding nothing even remotely interesting.

It's just a big mess of 'people doing dangerous things' (with endless slow-mo replays), 'people trying to be more shocking', 'alien/evil spirit sightings and rumours', bad old movies, re-runs of old sports, Green propaganda, 'smashing things', 'uber-witty comedy' (for the in-club), info-mercials, news blathering (balloon boy, etc.), and on, and on...

    Dreck, dreck, dreck!

Even the History Channel, which imo started out really great, has become, again imo, ridiculous, in large part.
