Daddy needs a new pair of shoes?

Well last weekend I was visiting family in the Ft. Campbell area.

I was at the counter of the military clothing store (picking up some PTs, a machete, a copy of On Combat, and some boot socks...last time I trust the Mrs to pack my socks) and my debit card was declined.

This was a bit surprising considering that last I checked, I had a couple thousand in there.

I get back to the cousin's house, log on to my bank to discover I only had $5.10 left.

Now I understand there's some sickos out there who will spend other people's money without their permission, but seriously...

Who spends $500 at the Armani Exchange and then turns around to shop at Payless?!?!?!?!?!?!

Come on guy, do you have taste or not?

Really sorry to hear that. Hope the stolen card info gets straightened out quickly.

    Tasteless thieves obviously?

Tasteless thieves OR more than one - one with taste & one without?

Sorry to hear about your problem. Now you get to have hours and hours of fun getting this all straightened out.

Good luck and try to stay calm.

Yeah, I feel for ya. I had mine stolen too. Kinda funny in my case. This idiot stole my credit card info and paid his power bill with it among other things. .

Needless to say, it didn't take long to track this fool down. I was reimbursed two days later, but all the crap that went along with all the alerts to the credit reporting agencies and stuff was a hassle. I think the guy got the info from my Itunes account.

Fortunately I caught it early. Most of the purchases were made that day, so they hadn't even been finalized. I had to send a memo to the bank for 5 of them that had posted.

Can't even really blame myself for this. They stole a bunch of numbers directly from the bank. The card they were using was an old one that the bank should have canceled 2 months ago when I activated the new one (this also made it easy to identify the fraudulent purchases).

The bank canceled all the pending charges, so I'm just waiting on the ~$500 that had already been posted.

I'm guessing based upon the variety of charges and the fact that this happened to several other customers, that this was a professional job. I don't know how they can do it without getting caught, but I don't doubt that they found a way.

Had a credit card compromised in Canada last spring, when I logged on to check my balance I noticed about 3 purchases for over 1000.00 I didn't make and called the CC company, they canceled my card and issued a new one, after they checked the fraudulent amout was credited back. They were all internet purchases where you just enter the info with no actual card needed

There's a big theft at ENT Credit Union in Colorado Springs currently, and it involves five other institutions, so ya'll keep the eyes open!

Good luck with yours, Daddy Warcrimes.

It's definitely been going around quite rampant in these past few weeks. I signed up for that "ID theft protection plan where the guy publishes his own social security number" (Like how I didn't mention the co. name, he he). It's only $110/yr, which is WAAAY cheaper than trying to recoup ID theft.

It's not a sure fire safe bet, but every little bit helps, I think. I waste more than that on breakfast burritos.

I hate to even suggest it but check close to home. The people you should be able to trust the most may turn out not to be worthy of that trust. This happened to me about year and a half ago. My step-son stole our cards out of a box at home and returned them before we found out. He ran up thousands in charges; buying for his friends, his cousin, and himself. Prior to this he stole and forged checks out of our checkbook. He is now 23 and a 2 time convicted felon. He now lives with other relatives who supported him during the investigation and trial. Yeah I'm a hard nose _______ but I gave him a chance after he forged the checks. I did not prosecute after he paid back what he stole from the forged checks with a promise not to steal again. He did steal again and I had no other choice. It will take me about 7 - 10 years to undo the damage done. I hope you get your situation straightened out quickly.
