Where Will You Go?
Most of us have given this alot of thought, but some have not.... this thread is for those who have no idea
In the event of a major catastrophe where will you go?
I'm leaning toward my local military base. Some other guys are saying they're going to the woods...
What about you guys? thoughts?

The fam is packing up and heading for WI. We can get there on the back roads with one tank of gas. The inlaws have a self sustaining farm which will eventually include it's own windmill for electricity. Water comes from the well.
They do the farming, I'll patrol the perimeter.

I know not what this "overkill" means.
Honing the knives, Cleaning the longguns, Stocking up ammo.

I would go to my Parents house. It's way up high on a hilltop in the foothills. We could spot people coming from a long way off if need be. The location also provides a superior advantage should we need one.

I have plenty of relatives in Missouri with farms. Not to far from me.

Too many variables in the question... I'm in Tampa Bay, so if the disaster is a hurricane, I'm staying here...
Nuclear strike...? Get out the chaise lounge and a cold beer and work on my tan...

Initially I stand pat. No need getting run over by the stampede that does know where it's going.

Well, I'd probably be stuck on the island until I got orders to go wherever the bad thing was...

I recommend against a military base, guard armory, police station, etc.
Many other people will have the same idea, and you may not find the welcoming you had hoped for (hint, they don't like your guns). They are not designed to accommodate the local community in the event of a disaster. You're better off fending for yourself.
I suppose you could head to the hills, if you are prepared to live in the hills.
I prefer the bug in approach when possible. Should the need arise, I have a alternate location in a small rural community.

If you go to a military base I guarantee you they will confiscate your weapons. We would hop in the camper and head out to my sister-in-law's in the country.

+1
If it's a nuke attack I'm screwed. I live on one of those mountains that's supposed to be the backup/bunker for the "important" people. I'm guessing that's one of the first places to get hit from a foreign power. I may as well break out the beer and enjoy the pretty lights...
