Also, nearly everything they document/analyze/explain on any of the CSI shows.

Probably because a real Gunny terrifies them.

I can pick one specifically: a scene in Equilibrium where Christian Bale decides he wants to switch his kung-fu beretta 92fs to full auto and thumbs the takedown lever as a selector switch.

Bugs me every time I see it.

Oh yeah, suppressors that are about 3 inches long and can completely silence even the largest calibers.

Also, movies where the heroes are only alive because the bad guys didnt take the time to figure out the little dealies on top of their weapons (sights).

Well, that was good to get out.

How about military and police personnel with bushy, shaggy hair, long drooping mustaches and sideburns down to their adams apple.

i almost lost it watching an episode of house...

they are running a stress test on the patient, and she collapses... they grab a BVM, but don't even hold it to her mouth while giving rescue breaths... :( im disappointed in you house (well actually Cameron, well the producers who thought the acting was acceptable) you were normally fairly close when it came to this stuff...

I can't rember the name of the movie, but Jet Li was in it. He threw a fire extinguisher at a bad guy, shot the can, and it blew up in a giant fireball. I'm pretty sure that's impossible.

And they last so long, too...should be 30 seconds, max...to be realistic.

    Ooops... gun related...
Not necessarily. It seems they blow up the same way when hitting the bottom of a cliff or if rocks fall on them.

I'm a director (and an editor). My wife gave up that argument long ago. I have a nasty tendency to rewind just to be sure I saw something.

Actually, what you're describing is a deluge system. In a deluge system, the sprinkler heads are open. Those sort of systems are not activated by the sprinkler head - rather, they are activated by other means - typically some sort of electronic detection. A dry system operates the same way as a traditional wet system, but is filled with pressurized nitrogen. When the sprinkler head is activated, the gas comes out first, followed by the water. (also not the behavior seen in movies). Dry and deluge systems are also used far less often than the more traditional systems.
