    needing directions around I-40 rockslide

I got to drive back to NC today, currently in Memphis, and the best way for me is I-40. Problem is that ton of rocks blocking the path. Anyone know a quick way around this without having to go I-81/26? I'm looking for some back road that'll take me around it basically. Thanks!

You can use old US 441, used to be the way we went up north before I-75, be advised it is a narrow winding road that passes through the Great Smokey Mountain National Park and has 2 or 3 tunnels just over 9 feet clearance. Maybe some of the TN members will have a better recommendation.

Forgot to add, once you get out of the park look for either US-19 or US-23 either will take you back to I-40 well east of the slide.

    This should help:

Thanks guys! I ended up taking 25/70 back into Asheville. It didn't cut off time cause of some much sloooower drivers, but it was fun going the back ways. I'd rather do that than the interstate!

I was--I had both my TomTom and iphone. The tomtom mainly, but it would either give me straight thru I-40 without knowing about the rockslide, or a much longer way around. I didn't have time to really look at a map and map my own way this time.
