10 pounds gone in 13 days

Me: male, 49, 6ft 00in, struggling to lower cholesterol and triglycerides. I can NOT take statins, red yeast rice, or any other cholesterol lowering meds. due to muscle pain and weakness. I now can tolerate Trilipix to lower triglycerides and I have given up everything I enjoy eating. Minimal carbohydrates, even less sugar and fat.

Now I eat like Cain on Kung-Fu. I would trade a pristine Colt series 70 for a pizza with the works covered in Twinkies and a large Coke with a whole carrot cake swimming in chocolate milk under a bed of ice cream. With Doritos.

But I am sticking to my diet and am losing weight so I can show my smug doctor that I can do it even if it kills me. I come from a long line of family who would cut off their nose to spite their face. Now I am prepared for my numbers to go down, but if they don't, I will carry on with my diet and keep trying something till it works. I am now 210lbs, down from 220.4lbs.

    Congratulations!

Keep it up. The first 10 or so are easier, but hang in there and it will keep coming off.

Get OFF the diet soda wagon. It is bad for you, helps prevent weight loss, and perpetuates a bad eating habit.

BTW, bicycling will help you drop pounds fairly quickly if you ride daily.

+1 The aspartame in any "diet" soda is not good for you.

CARBONATED WATER, CARAMELCOLOR, ASPARTAME, PHOSPHORIC ACID, ARTIFICIAL AND NATURAL FLAVORS, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVATIVE), CAFFEINE. PHENYLKETONURICS CONTAINS: PHENYLALANINE

Headaches: One study confirmed that individuals with self-reported headaches after the ingestion of aspartame were in deed susceptible to headaches due to aspartame. Three randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled studies with more than 200 adult migraine sufferers showed that headaches were more frequent and more severe in the aspartame-treated group.

Depression: In a study of the effect of aspartame on 40 patients with depression, the study was cut short due to the severity of reactions within the first 13 patients tested. The outcome showed that individuals with mood disorders were particularly sensitive to aspartame and recommended that it be avoided by them.

You can find someone willing to say that ANYTHING is bad for you.
Usually in a study financed by a competitor.
Just think how bad inhaling gunpowder smoke is for you.
    Better give up shooting!

Good luck. I modified my eating habits many years ago and it worked! I still sin once in a while and I allow myself little treats quite often. Focus on finding low-fat, tasty, interesting foods that you can live with for a lifetime. Fad diets won't work well, IMHO. You need to incorporate prudent eating into your lifestyle.

If gunpowder smoke was equivalent to Sarin or mustard gas you'd BET I'd quit shooting. I kicked smoking for the same reason once I wised up.
