I have Norton 360 and it has a parental control add-on. I imagine just about all of the major players have something like this.

There are also lots of free and shareware (small fee) programs available that a quick web search will show. Tucows has a number to look at and they have ratings with some of them.

Sad thing is some kids are so computer savvy they may be able to disable your blocker, but I think every parent should moniter their kids and what sites they frequent

Even though I'm 21 now... but it applied to me in the past...

Personally, I'd have a talk with them about it when they are a decent age to learn and understand sexuality and such... But then again, I'm not the parent. Let's put it this way, you can use a dedicated computer as your router and enable logging and then monitor what goes on in your network. But if they can't view it at home, they will use the neighbor's wifi, friend's network, or local coffee shop to view whatever they want...

It's like businesses that ban guns. A lot of us will not patronize those places because they don't want us to carry there. So what do we do? We go to the next business that does support (free internet access) our right to carry.

You might want to check Kim Komando’s website she has links to lots of freeware and shareware that may suit your needs.

Windows Vista(if you are using it) has its own built in parental controls. It is about the only thing I like about Vista.

The Vista controls work very well, and the UAC control works too well.

At my house I use a program called CovenantEyes. It's not a filter, but it is a very powerful internet usage monitoring tool. It scores web sites by objectionable content and reports all web usage to an outside party of your choice (I.E. parent's e-mail). I don't know if it works against anything but porn, though. It doesn't block you from accessing anything, but it provides the best oversight of anything I've used.

I've never personally used it, but I hear Dave Ramsey talking about this product on his show all the time.
