Awesome rate - and darned if I recall the name of this device. Something ''storm'' is it.
It has been in development quite some time now and is IIRC electronically triggered. The Company I believe wanted to get the mil interested but not sure if as yet things have progressed much further.

Any idea what it's intended use is?
Apparently to shoot down a line of doors.Originally Posted by Tangle

Whats really impressive is standing by a phalynx gun system at sea, while they are testing. That was breathtaking....

The company is Metalstorm and they've become sidetracked into developing the New Jersey Smart Gun along with some New Jersey engineering school.
There's a reason The Sopranos is set in New Jersey.
Google Metal Storm and you'll find their website.
The 40mm version is impressive.
Yea - not good if your're worried about overpenetration...
Kind of reminds me of the "Remote Sentries" in Alien 2
"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."
I like how the camera gets further and further away when the up the rounds. I'm thinking percussion problems with the camera. Who knows. Might as well be shooting bird shot out of a howitzer. Save on research $$$.

Sweet stuff. I'm not sure I could afford to keep replacing the doors, though. Looks like they don't hold up for long.
