    Your Fitness Level

I'm getting older and have noticed a decrease in my physical performance. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the fact that I am a police officer that has been working steady midnights for the past two years. Sleeping habits aren't great.

But I just wanted to see how some of you are doing as far as performance? Be honest. I'm sure I will get some funny responses. But I'm wondering if anyone else is in my boat.

    In my prime:

110 push ups without stopping (chest one inch from ground to full upright position)
    max bench - 275 (one rep) 225 (8-10 reps)
60 sit-ups in 1 minute (finger interlaced, full range of motion)
    6 minute mile run
    10 minute 1 1/2 mile run
25 pull ups (dead hang, no kipping)

At the time I was about 165 and 24 years old.

Now as a 37 year old aging dad weighing about 170:

    70 push ups without stopping
I haven't maxed out on the bench, but I'm getting 6 reps with 215
58 sit ups in one minute
    7:18 minute mile run
    11:25 minute 1 1/2 mile run
    20 pull ups (dead hang)

What is bothering me most is the drop in run time. I'd like to get my time down without sacraficing strength. I know that you cannot beat the clock. But I have been working out for many years and my performance really started to drop in the last 3 or 4 years. I was pretty consistant up untill then.

So let's hear it from the work out bunch.

You do all that stuff on purpose? It's not your physical health I'd be worried about....... JK

    Thats pretty awesome dude

    I'm 37, about 200#'s, 6' tall.

I can do maybe 30 pushups, Maybe 20 situps, prob. 8-10 pull-ups and I can run from here to the toilet in 5 seconds....

i've never worked out really, not more than a week or so at the time anyway.
If I gave a crap about what you think about my guns.....it was early this morning and I already flushed it!

It probably has more to do with the regularity of your workouts. I'm in decent shape too, but nowhere near what shape I would be in if I could workout every day. As far as the running, increasing your distance at the same pace will allow you to run faster in the shorter distance (1 mile). Throw in some sprints too, any hills in your area? A heart rate monitor could help, maybe you haven't been pushing as hard as you think.

Age 45, 6'1", 200lbs. Physical performance? Be honest? Oh...dude....you don't want me to spell it out even though I might like to. But I couldn't here on the forum. Not only do I do work out at home, but my job pretty much demands it. I can honestly say I'll still do the Marine Corp basics with no problem, and I smoke on top of that. Work outs? I do mine at work, and come home hard. If you want to know all the secrets of this, just wait until I spill the beans on my internet business that's going to make me a fortune where I won't have to work any more. Stand by for news.

Does lifting weights include brushing my teeth?

I don't do weights, but I run a couple miles per day.

But I'd rather be out playing golf.

Benchpress 130, situps 24, pushups 20. Run, not sure now. Then again Im 120pounds, and dont workout.
Used to be able to do 60 pushups, 35 situps, and run a mile and a half in just under 10 minutes. Benchpress was 150 but shoulder problems dont let me to more, used to do butterflys with 50 pounds.

Unlimited Australian push ups. You know they are down under, so you lay on your back and push up with your arms.

I'm not too terribly out of shape, I hit the gym for cardio and machines 2 to 3 times a week, plus TKD class twice a week.

    Last night we did:

    1. 30 jumping jacks
    2. 20 burpees
    3. 10 diamond pushups
    4. 10 regular pushups
    5. 10 wide pushups
    6. 10 burpees
    7. 15 tricep presses with folding chairs
    8. 10 any style pushups
    9. 10 more burpees
    10. 25 crunches
    11. 15 on each side of this strange laying on side and pushing up with opposite arm thing
    12. 10 of these crunches where you pull your legs up to your chest and grab the legs, then extend out and go back

We did this in about 20 minutes or so and then I worked on my form for about 15 minutes and tested for a stripe on my belt.

I was soaking wet, and am sore today, but it feels great!

I was once VERY physically fit and a Presidential Fitness Award winner.

I was a runner, avid swimmer, could beat any boy I knew in push ups, etc.

While my husband was in the Corps I would run with him and did 3 miles in about 25 minutes.

    Then I got pregnant.

I just started working out again and I'm ashamed of how out of shape I currently am. I ran two miles this morning and felt like I was going to die!

I can do ONE pullup though I'm working on that.

I'm up to about ten pushups. 30+ crunches. I don't even count leg and arm exercises. I just do them until I can't do it anymore and then rest and do it again. Hopefully I'll be back to my former self in no time.

I was a wrestler in high school, but now I'm not sure I could run 2 blocks... that's a sad thing to have to admit...

My brother in law runs marathons... I told him once that if I ever run 26 miles, you can bet that I am fleeing the scene of a felony...

I'm not in the shape I once was, but not too bad for a broke down Aircraft Mechanic who is 5'5" and about 180#. Crunches 35 in a min, pushups 52 in 45 seconds, 33.5 inch waist and my run is pitifully slow but good enough to pass my annual Air Force PT test. Pull ups and bench no idea because of 3 pins in my left shoulder and a grade 3 AC seperation (sp?) in my right shoulder
