I'm getting older and have noticed a decrease in my physical performance. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the fact that I am a police officer that has been working steady midnights for the past two years. Sleeping habits aren't great.
But I just wanted to see how some of you are doing as far as performance? Be honest. I'm sure I will get some funny responses. But I'm wondering if anyone else is in my boat.
In my prime:
110 push ups without stopping (chest one inch from ground to full upright position)
max bench - 275 (one rep) 225 (8-10 reps)
60 sit-ups in 1 minute (finger interlaced, full range of motion)
6 minute mile run
10 minute 1 1/2 mile run
25 pull ups (dead hang, no kipping)
At the time I was about 165 and 24 years old.
Now as a 37 year old aging dad weighing about 170:
70 push ups without stopping
I haven't maxed out on the bench, but I'm getting 6 reps with 215
58 sit ups in one minute
7:18 minute mile run
11:25 minute 1 1/2 mile run
20 pull ups (dead hang)
What is bothering me most is the drop in run time. I'd like to get my time down without sacraficing strength. I know that you cannot beat the clock. But I have been working out for many years and my performance really started to drop in the last 3 or 4 years. I was pretty consistant up untill then.
So let's hear it from the work out bunch.
