Term for using cell phones for video not 911?

I came across this video, there are a thousand like it.

    LiveLeak.com - St Louis Streetfight

It seems we, as a society, have a new thing- instead of using our cell phones to call 911 when people see a fight, traffic accident, injury...etc, people use them to capture video of the incident. Then they post it online.

Is there a name for this? I think we might have to coin a term?

some sort of term for cell-phone-video-filming-ignoring 911

    Any ideas?

It seems the outrage here might be based on the misconception that the cops will actually be able to respond in time to stop the transgression when in reality they probably aren't going to get there until after the event.

So, if you're involved in a legit SD shooting, would you rather have a biased bystander's testimony or actual video to back up your side of the story? I would think video of you dialing 911 immediately after you have defended yourself would be in your favor.

While I think taking video and posting it online is bad, taking video AND THEN calling 911 so the video can be used to identify the BG's counts as being a good witness if you ask me. Idealy one person would film while another called 911 but there are not always 2 witnesses

I think the video is a great idea IF 911 is being called and you don't post it on some stupid site and then have to tell everyone you wish you had not done that. Video is better than memory.

    Witlessing is pretty clever... :)

Taking video for evidence is always good, but someone should be alerting the authorities. I don't think most of these videos were taken to be shown in court- they were taken to show friends, "hey dude, look what I saw today..."

    sad...
