I miss the good old days!

    WHEN.......

We didn't have to worry about gas prices.

We didnt' have to worry about social security going away forever.
We didnt' have to worry about so many damn taxes.
We didnt' have to worry about homeland security.
We didnt' have to worry about thugs breaking into our homes.
We didnt' have to worry about cougars and bears attacking us.
We didnt' have to worry about loosing the wilderness I use to play in.
We didnt' have to worry about gun laws.
We didnt' have to worry about immigrants stealing my job away.
We didnt' have to worry about having a house a year from now.
We didnt' have to worry about being able to retire ever.
We didnt' have to worry about a pocket knife in my pants when i go to the airport.
We didnt' have to worry about racing cars on roads.
We didnt' have to worry about currupt police enforcement.
We didnt' have to worry about people trying to stop the killing of animals for human consumption. We didnt' have to worry about global warming if it really does exist or if its just BS.
We didnt' have to worry about getting cancer from everything.
We didnt' have to worry about dieing from all these diseases.
We didnt' have to worry about ......
anyone else have anything to add, i could go on forever

What ever happened to the good old days, when all we had to care about were Sports Scores, whats in the movies, what kinda beer to purchase for the weekend, and what fun products to buy with all our excess money, to be able to go hiking wiht out fear of cougar and beat attacking because the antis made it illegal to hunt those animals with dogs, so no one huhts, and bears and cougars have no fear of humans anymore so they get to close and attack!

Ah, the good old days -- when human life expectancy was [place number of years here] shorter than it is now!

It's always a trade-off. Back when everyone could easily own a gun, for example, polio was a real threat.

I still worry about those pesky U-Boats trolling along the Atlantic coast for unsuspecting merchant men....

....seriously now, I worry today about my children and the future they face, which is something I didn't even think about before I had children.

Sadly I'm afraid those days are gone forever. Of course some of the things on the list were there........ We just didn't know enough to worry about them.

Predictably we remember the good over the bad - but yes, much about the ''old days'' was good and seems lost.

Be nice to take all that was good then and meld it into all that is good now - scrapping all the bad stuff - that'd be rather pleasant! I too am concerned as to what the kids will be facing down the line - some of it may not be pretty.

I wish I could go back to 1998. That was a great year. My last year of college, no worries. Fast car, fast guns, and fast women.

The march of time...if not children, then grandchildren. That's why we try, in our own ways, to leave the world a tiny bit better? That, and those damn U-Boats, and those pesky UFO's.
