Post This WAS an Actual SERIOUS Gun Question

    On another forum.
I just COULD NOT put it in the serious area of OUR forum & so it's in Humor & Off Topic....even though it IS gun related.

"I keep hearing that if you seal the end of a gun barrel with your finger it's impossible to fire a bullet.
I can't see how this could be true unless there are some crazy vacuum or pressure thingers going on.
If it is true it would be fairly easy to stop an assailant from shooting you at point blank, which makes me doubt this plus the overall insaneness of it.
So I put it to all you clever peeps is there any reason why this would be true or not?"

Well, a finger doesn't work. However, a carrot will. But only for Bugs Bunny.

Heck - it's only a modification to flippin' the bird

Of course, sealing up muzzle with something nice and permanent - like 3 parts sand and one of cement will help - at least to ensure a burst barrel

I used to do it all the time during the French-Indian War. We used to charge those forts and stick our fingers into the barrels of the enemy's flint-lock rifles just as we breached the walls. We did this mostly because we knew that there would be no way they could reload before the ninjas in the second wave sliced them all to pieces. There were many battles won in this manner - without us ever firing a shot...

    Question:
Are we somehow civilly-liable if we ask the guy to figure out whether or not it works and get back with us?? :)

    Call For Volunteers

Okay, it's time for someone to step up to the plate and test this theory out.

A full write-up with sworn witness statements and pics will be required.

I'd volunteer, I really would, but I'm gonna be busy for the next year or so.

That's probably someone incredibly naive being confused with pushing a semi out of battery, preventing them from firing. That actually works.

That's a little booboo of a cut, Equalizer. I should post the ones taken of my fingers after they took a dive into a joiner.

    thats a new one!
How can you possibly consider that would ever work!
You can do it with a BB-gun, a paint-ball gun ( it will hurt, but you won't be injured), but wiht a real gun, COME ON......

Well.......the answer is yes.......but only kinda

On a serious note, pushing and holding back the slide of a semi auto will prevent it from being fired.

I suppose someone could think that its the finger in the barrel thing.
