Big Thumbs-Up to P95Carry for NRA Basic Pistol course

Yesterday and today my wife and my oldest son and I attended the NRA Basic Pistol course at Hollidaysburg (PA) Sportsmens' Club. Chris (P95Carry) was one of the 5 instructors.

I sent this email to the course director and CC'd to Chris:

    Hi Corey,

I just wanted to drop you a note and thank you again for the pistol course this weekend. It was superb, great job!

I took the same course in 2003, and it was just no comparison. You guys had excellent training tools (Jack's section on ammo was especially well put together from an educational standpoint) and your continued emphasis on safety is perfect.

Sue and Mikey really got a lot out of it, and so did I. Mike really appreciated the humor you guys interjected into it. It never became tedious or boring.

Often we only hear the negatives; I thought it might be good for you to hear the positives.

One last note: of 14 participants, only 4 were adult males. That is impressive and speaks volumes for the health of the sport that you guys are promoting in the Blair County area.

    --Brian
Thanks again Chris for the heads-up on the course and for your patient and kind instruction!

Many thx Brian - appreciate the feedback

We did indeed have a great bunch of folks there yesterday and today and I am glad y'all enjoyed it. As Brian knows we run a course which starts with HUGE emphasis on safety and Corey who heads the team is tough - I mean TOUGH on that - no room for sloppy safety or compromize.

Once that is out the way we relax a bit and have some fun - bit of joshing and banter while dishing out the info. Seems to make for a relaxed atmosphere and it works we think.

Much of the return for the time we spend running these courses is seeing new folks and sometimes not quite so new - achieving a better understanding of safety and - with real noobs, if not being immediately stellar shots - aquiring the means and knowledge to know what they might have done wrong.

This makes for a building block such that they can progress later with good results. Is particularly good to have more ladies and young folks - that is great.

    Thx again Brian.

Sounds like all had a great time, and I'm sure the leasons will be remembered for a long time. It's always good to get a good solid lesson in the basics. And oh yes, Safety First.

I asume everyone passed the section on Tactical S&S too.

Weather was too cool for that Mike - they have to come back later on a stinking hot day, properly attired, then I can check 'em out for suitability
