What were they trying to accomplish with that? LOL. Please tell me you were called there to fix it.

The black bucket under the tub is where it drains to. there is a pump inside it and it pumps the bathwater out and sends it over head to a vent pipe in a restroom.

Does it all work? If so, what's the problem?

So they did that because a drain that uses gravity would have been a real hassle?

Oh. I thought you had to drain it little by little and empty the bucket.

I have a similar pump in my basement for the washtub. Reason being is that the drain to the septic tank is four feet off the floor. They work very well, pumping rate is high. It will keep up with a washing machine emptying into it.

If you have a below ground installation and need to pump overhead, that will do the trick.

Yes i works just fine. A better faucet that would mix the water would be nice.

Assume it's in a basement. Same hassle with bathrooms down there. You need a pressurized toilet that flushes UP!

That's what I figured. Hmm, somehow a pressurized toilet just sounds like a very bad idea. I don't even want to know what happens when it gets clogged.
