What are some good comparisions to not carrying with one in the chamber? Some (very loose) examples:

I was going to be sarcastic, but decided against it. I deleted my previous entry.

Why wear a seatbelt? I can just put it on right before I wreck my car.

Why wear a helmet? I can just put it on right before I wreck my motrocycle.

Why buy homeowners insurance? I'll just buy it as the Tornado touches down / House catches on fire.

Why Carry a round in the chamber? I'll have all the time in the world when I need my gun. Oh Wait............

When we need our guns it means the Bad Guys already got the drop on us.

Why would you not want to give yourself every possible extra chance toward survival. I do not understand not carrying with one in the chamber.

For target shooting, that's okay. Get a license and go to the range. For defense of the home, that's why we have police departments.

+ I'm just a small business owner, not chain. Most of these people know me, know my family and they grew up knowing me in this neighborhood. We'll be okay as we look out for them and they will look out for us.

+ We live in a nice, safe, ex-burb (rural suburban stylized) neighborhood, away from all the riff raff and surrounded by people who look and think like us...They work hard for what they have and are neighborly, friendly and respectful. No need to lock our doors & windows or close the garage door at night.

+ I don't need a gun...Nobody needs a gun in their home or carried on their person...I don't want to know how to use a gun. Why exactly would I need to know how to use a gun?!...I have a husband/BF/dog/old person neighbor who watches our street...The police department is just a few minutes away in town.

+ I carry 'Israeli Carry' [Even though the Israeli's stopped carrying this way 20 yrs. ago] because it's 'safe' and besides I can draw and chamber a round to fire as fast as most people can draw.

Timid people sleep peacefully at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

LOL, this topic is getting beat to death like the proverbial dead horse.

No one can argue that +1 allows faster response, especially in situations where only one hand is available. But +1 carry also requires more attention when handling the firearm. The chances of a ND are greatly increased with +1 carry. Fancy statistics and elaborate charts are not necessary. If you are +1, then one careless move can result in a ND.

Take your pick: +1 or -1. Any which way you carry is still better than no gun at all!

    JMHO, of course.
