    Bears,Bears and more Bears!

With our areas recent heavy rains and colder than normal temps and a subdivision going up near my farm I have been overrun by black bears.

I've always had a few poking around my beehives but this winter they have broken to my greenhouses, eaten the sweetfeed for the horses, killed a few goats and dug up the entire sweetater patch, but the straw that broke my back was the night they completely razed my beer brewing shed!

I called the Wildlife officers since its no longer hunting season here and asked what I could legally do,while the Game Warden was here a sow walked up to and started sniffing his truck...Instant nuisance bear kill permit!

I have killed 6 now in as many days, one while I was hitching another to the mule to pull back to the game cleaning shelter.I have started smoking and dehydrating the meat for later use and am having the hides tanned to make bed covers.

If yall dont hear form me regularly you know I missed a fast one!

Uh, if you need my address to sent one of hides, let me know.

Too bad the subdivision created the issue for you, and the bears. They're just trying to survive, but it also sounds like you have a high population going there and there is a limit, huh.

Your post looks like a way to bait bears without baiting. I guess I better get set up to brew beer, plant sweet taters, buy more sweet grain for horses and start raising bees for honey . I only have one Bear visiting but it hasn't caused any problem other then chaseing the homeless off my property

Umm, if you need help i'll be right over.
It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

Sir,which photos would you like to see?

The ones of my daughter, who cant sleep because of the nightmares?

Or the ones of the horses, with the cuts, gashes and splinters when they broke down the stalls to get away and are now standing in the snow because they are too frightened to return to the barn?

Maybe the one of my little girl finding whats left of her pet goat?

How about the pic of a ruined crop, that was a big part of my income?

Or the one of the bears that were just trying to survive?

I tend to have a bit more respect for the animal than exploiting gore filled pics for personal gratification.

I understand you need pics for authentication but but I aint walking around the farm right now with my hands full of camera.

Why are they not tranquilizing them and moving them instead of tagging them as nuisance bears immediately due to the intrusion of their habitat by humans. Just curious.

I'm not up on NC habitat areas, but are not the bears in short numbers their?

Good question, actually NC has a over population of bears, and the areas the State used to move bears to are "full"
