If you were at Sea World today...
If you were at sea world today CC and that whale attacked that woman would you have unloaded your weapon into the whale, Possibly saving her life?? I know probably would just piss the whale off more. and How long do you think you would serve in prison????
You may not like guns. You may choose not to own one. That is your right.
You might not believe in God. That is your choice.
However, if someone breaks into your home at 3AM the first two things you are going to do are:
1) Call someone with a gun.
2)Pray they get there in time." - A wise man

the whale was 12000 thousand pounds, it would have took quite a few .45s..

Twelve million pounds (12000 thousand) seems a bit high....
Seriously, though, no handgun round is going to bother a killer whale. It would be extremely foolish for anyone to attempt to shoot at an animal like that - in a crowded stadium, at a quickly moving target (with a person in its mouth, no less), etc. I hope you were just kidding with your OP...
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

I'm not sure a hand gun would have made much of a difference.

This is a trick question, right?

lol..... I was kidding but, would it be justified, say you were carrying a .50 cal. Desert Eagle..just wondering, and not as crazy as some of the scenarios on here..

You might as well give it a time out while you're at it. It would have about the same effect.

A whale attacking a trainer at SeaWorld is so far from anything I would mentally prepare for - self-defense wise - that I doubt I would even consider using my sidearm. Though I'd agree with the above posters that handgun rounds would do little good against a whale and could hit the trainer.

Well at my Sea World here in Texas I can not carry so wouldn't do any good anyway. I don't think that there are many if any handguns out there that would even phase a killer whale. There is not much that could have been done, it is a wild animal and a big one at that.

You would still deserve a time out and revocation of your permit for such a thing. I don't care what you are carrying, it wouldn't have made a difference.

This is really the point I was trying to make. okay, say it is not a whale instead it is a young panda that is mauling someone, I just think that there would be a backlash(not just from china). You see if that was my whale and it killed someone it would be dead, but animals sometimes are treated better than people. And I dont care for the wild animal in a cage argument. What if your dog killed someone. same difference??? I guess they call them killer whales for a reason............................SHAMU HAS KILLED MORE PEOPLE THAN MY GUN.

That is exactly why I conceal carry a harpoon. You never know when a whale might attack.
I also conceal carry a club, should any baby seals get out of line.

Forget the doggone whale.
Quickly shoot the trainer.
It's a quicker and far more merciful death than being bitten in half by a Killer whale.
OK...just kidding...just kidding.
