"New Posts" Limited to 50 Now?

"New Posts" was limited to a max of 150 until a few days ago. Now it's limited to 50, which is way too few.

I last logged in here at 1:55PM and there are now more than 50 threads since that time, but all I can see with this new "feature" is 50 threads.

Makes it 100% probable that those of us who can't check in 4-5x/day are missing previous posts that might be of interest.

Could you please check into this and reset this limit? [I'm a Mod on another forum using the same SW and we don't have that problem there, so it shouldn't be a SW problem, likely a setting issue at the Admin end.]

    Thanks.

It was probably changed to counter the slow page uploads people have been experiencing.
I don't mind, I can search the individual sub-forums. I use 'new posts' for convenience but not for real searches.
But, I had 200 posts per page on my last vBulletin haunt. Not everyone would want that but I appreciated it, I also appreciated being able to change font size. Just a heads up that I'm interested should those become options here.

As we approach 10,000 registered members some problems are becoming more evident. We are seeing much higher numbers of members online at once, which puts a high demand on the server. So the owner, Bumper, is looking at what he can do to improve the performance. Limiting the "New Posts" search to 50 records is a way to help performance short term until a permanent solution is in place.

The permanent solution appears to be a move to a dedicated server for the forums. So that won't happen overnight. I'm sure Bumper will enlighten us when he has made the appropriate arrangements. Until then I'm afraid we need to live with the 50 post setting for now. I know I rely heavily on the new posts feature, so it is limiting to me as well. I have taken to going back to looking at the individual forums.

Sorry about that guys, what I was trying to limit, not thinking it would limit the "New Posts" search, were general forum searches to lessen the impact on the database. I will make that change right now. And, sorry for the late response, I have been out of town since last Friday....

    Thanks!

I'd given up here for the past few days. Between getting "server busy" every time I tried to check for new messages and the 50 limit it was aggravating.

Just logged back in and see 199 threads to ferret thru . . . that's doable.

    Thanks again.

I think Bumper put that back to ''normal'' as it may well not be doing too much to slow us down - but needed tried.

The speed does vary in a very fickle manner - sometimes super fast then s-l-o-w! Hard to predict.

Thanks Bumper, going thru section by section was rather cumbersome. The capability of just reviewing the new posts was/is one of my favorite features of this excellent forum.

I have also been running a maintenance on the database every night just for good measure. Not sure I an keep it up long term, but until the problems are resolved I will keep doing it...
