    May 14th server outage

I spoke with Mark at our hosting company while they were still working on the problem. Apparantly they had a fire somewhere along the fiber connection to the data center which took us down for a few hours. Everything appears to back to running smoothly now. Sorry for the inconvenience, but caca invariably happens....

    Thumbs up

    Who Turned Out The Lights?

They got us back up and running again pretty doggone quick considering the nature of the problem.

My only gain (was it a gain ?? ) was that I went to attend to some ''Honeydo's'' LOL.

Sounds like a pretty major problem, so all things considered we have lucked out. I was thinking we might be down until tomorrow but hey - the Combat Gods smiled on us

I have two midterms tommorow, and thought I was being sent a sign that I should be studying for them.

O well, now that we are back up I don't have to worry about that any more.

Thanks for getting it up and running again.

Don't worry Bumper, I've only got 2 more weeks of classes and only one really hard class this quarter, and my cumulative GPA is over a 3.1, I should graduate barring a meltdown.

I was having severe withdrawal pains all afternoon!

The stress caused by no CombatCarry is just unbearable!

I'm retired. I have lots of free time. I need CombatCarry.

    I know. I should get a life!

You're doing it wrong. I'm retired too so when "Bumper.com" went down I took a nap ! When I got up I used the down time to catch up on THR.

Then I went to the dentist and found out I need a root canal ... getting old just plain sucks!

A word of explanation from our host

    Attn Tranquil Hosting customers:

At approximately 3PM on May 14th, our customers were unable to access their servers and websites. This problem was due to our upstream Internet provider, Level 3. The problem was beyond our network, and out of our control. This was a large-scale problem, affecting not just Tranquil Hosting but many other customers in North Carolina and other states as well.

We have not received a complete story of what caused the problem, but felt it necessary to relay the information we do have to our customers as soon as possible. Normally, a single network problem would not cause an outage since the fiber optic network supplying us is laid out in a redundant ring. Technicians have told us that there were two separate problems that caused the outage: 1) A fiber cable in Virginia was cut and 2) Some core network equipment was damaged by a building fire in Pennsylvania.

This is a very serious problem and we realize the frustration and
inconvenience caused to our customers. We are committed to providing a stable and reliable service. To this end, we have taken steps to increase the redundancy of our network. Our other datacenter site was unaffected, which is why our www.tqhosting.com website was still accessible. Prior to the outage, we had already ordered a backup circuit connecting the two datacenters. This will be completed in the next 30 days and an instant failover for Internet problems at either site.

Please accept our apologies for your inconvenience and be assured that we are working diligently to prevent this type of outage from happening again.

It is nice to know that CC is hosted in a Tranquil place and not a hectic one
