    A Policy Question

If I sent a private message to one of the senior moderators and said I just had to use my weapon and I shot and killed a BG.

I have been arrested and am out on bail.

Will you please purge every post that I have ever made on this site so that if and when the district attorney searches this site for any thing that I may have said to use against me, would you do it??

It is not that I am ashamed of anything I post but I wonder how a anti gun DA could twist what I have said in here to make me look like a GUN NUT!

I will simply say that if you, or any member, is ever involved in something that would cause your forum posts to come back to haunt you in a serious way, please email me directly, giving me enough information to get the gist of your situation and I'll listen. Actually, I would recommend that you email me and ask for my phone number.... Does this make sense?

This is again a good reminder that we should be careful what we do write on the web - but remember too, there can be a lotta material cached and so deletion cannot necessarily purge all previous stuff.

I have found forum type material from at least as far back as 2005!!!

Very true... Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not a lawyer.

However, would general postings come into play in court? Would it be circumstantial evidence? I would imagine if you had previous run-ins with the attacker that you dispatched and you mentioned them here then they would be admissible in court because they are pertinent to the case but I'm not sure about other posts. But, again, I'm speculating.

Also, going in and deleting all of your posts (or having someone do it for you) could also look like you have something to hide, perhaps.

    WHAT DID YOU DO!!!!

Seriously, seeing the question I wonder if it is even possible to eliminate all traces anymore. Look at the "online" section of the main page and there is always a couple of "bots" sniffing around.

Yes and no, Randy may be able to expand on this more than I.
It would or at least should not be used as evidence, unless the it can be related to the case at hand. It will be used to give the jury an idea of character, leaving a good or bad impression.

IANAL, so this free advice may be worthless. I would think that anytime someone approaches you (a generic case, a generic you) with a request to alter or delete potential evidence, doing so would be a potential obstruction of justice. Simpy put, you wouldn't be asked to get rid of the stuff if the person asking wasn't worried about it; therefore, the act of being asked is reason enough to be very very cautious before agreeing.

I did not say I would do anything but listen. My listening to what they have to say does not constitute "obstruction of justice". I didn't imply I would (or would not) do anything. I'm just a naturally nosey person and like to know what kind of caca people get into. I would say, however, that this is my site and I am free to discontinue, remove or burn it to the ground, should I choose, as long as the court has not ordered me to do so.

That being said, look at the bottom of our main page and you will see at least one search bot, usually more, that are indexing the forum 24/7.

Now you're in trouble, this thread clearly demonstrates pre-meditation.

I guess this reply makes me an accomplice?

Yes, you are. Turn yourself in at the nearest municipal court building....

I guess we need to careful what we say, even here.

For the record: Every time I've cheered a dead dirtbag I was under the belief that it was opposite day. I said while I really meant that it was tragic that such a young, promising life was prematurely snuffed out by the failings of society.

Are we all accomplices before the fact (co-conspirators) or accessories after the fact? Or aiders and abettors?

I am getting dizzy thinking about this, and it's what I do for a living. Ugh.

I, like Sergeant Shultz, know nothing. Hear nothing. See nothing.....
