I just got an email from defensivecarry.com saying my account has been locked because someone tried to use bad passwords. What can I do to prevent this, and what happens other than they can post on my account if they do get into my account?
Thanks

What is DD.com???
Usually a lock is added to some logins if more than three attempts fail - but time limited - and anyways if a site is secure enough only your password should work.

Ahh - did wonder
Well you are still posting and logged on so - probably this is something for Bumper to comment on.

The only time I have heard of that happening is in the scenario that Chris explained. If you type in the wrong password more than twice it will lock your account for 15 minutes since it assumes that it is someone trying to hack your account. It emails you a notification so you are aware of it. We have never had any accounts hacked here and seriously doubt if it will happen as long as it's not someone that knows your password or is able to guess it. Even I do not have the ability to know what your password is. So long as you keep your password reasonably complex. Use no whole words, rather a combination of at least 8 letters and numbers, with possibly an upper case thrown in to make it even harder.

could it be his alias?

I found out it is the alias "User Name"
I changed the password to one more complex so I should be ok. What i think happened is someone forgot to enter their user name and typed in thier password. User Name is the default name so the computer must think its me. Kinda thought it would had been fun when I joined.
