If you don't have to type in your password everytime you visit the site, you are always logged in.
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.

You're not a computer genius, eh?
Well, the only reason that you are allowed to stay logged in is because I have allowed you to remain logged in through my 'special' site package.
The usual cost is $100/year...if you respond in the next 30 minutes, I will allow you to remain logged in for the duration...just mail $19.95 to "Stay Logged In", in care of retsupt99. Send the check soon!

    Note: Special 'in state' discount!

When you log in to the site, a cookie is placed on your computer. This cookie is required and is used to keep track of what threads you have visited so it can keep your session updated for you. When you log out, or close your browser, the cookie is removed. If you check the "Remember Me" box, the cookie is not removed when you quit (it still is if you "Log Out") and when you come back to the site you will be logged in. You should not, for obvious reasons, check the "Remember Me" box if you access the forum through a public computer in a library, Internet cafe, etc.

When you log out or close your browser, you will be removed from the list of people logged in. There is also an expiration of the cookie that will prevent you from showing as "logged in" on the site for inactivity should you just walk away, leaving your browser open. I believe it's set at 120 minutes.
