What does the "friend" feature do for me?

I was reently invited to be someones' "friend." That's cool with me, since I'm a friendly kind of guy. But I don't know what it really means to be someones "friend." I actually consider a bunch of folks here to be my friends, even though I haven't met them. Does accepting the "friend" invitation mean I can call at any hour of the night for a ride home from the bar?

Would you be willing to bail them out of jail, or as Foxworthy put it "Be right there with them, as a true friend"?

I too have many friends, but not many of them are close friends (of which i only have a few).

I havent figured that out either.

A couple of days ago I had several "friend requests" on my User CP.

I figured if they wanted me to be their friend, that was enough for me and clicked on them.

Hi Cupcake. You can add me as your "friend" and see what happens. I'm game.

DOH! I completely misunderstood the question from Cupcake. I didn't realize the question was related to this site, and I thought it was for friends in general.

Dang, I'm gonna go home and go to sleep!

I'll see if I can find some canned information on the "friends" feature to help clarify this, but this new version of vBulletin has a lot of features that have not been fully implemented here pending my research of how useful they would actually be.

Those of you that have looked at the User CP have probably found alot of the new features (information) that you can add there. If it were fully implemented, you could turn the information entered in the UserCP into basically a personal web page, even restricting access to it to just those on your "friends list".....

Don't lose any sleep over it, Bumper. Just curious. I didn't even realize it was a new feature until you just mentioned it. I just thought I hadn't been "friend-worthy" previously.

A friend is someone who will go on your bond for you when you are in trouble.

However, a REAL friend is someone who will be sitting in the cell with you and says "We should have hidden the body."

According to vBulletin, the "Reciprocal Friendships Between Users" feature is, "A part of our new social networking system, users can now request that people on their buddy list confirm their friendship, after which time a person's list of confirmed friends will be viewable to other users."

It appears to be tied to a whole load of other features that we have not implemented at this time and probably never will. So I would say to use it however you want to use it....

Thanks Bumper. Doesn't seem to do anything anyway.
