Me too here in Arkansas.
No DC for awhile.

I'm just one root in a grassroots organization. No one should assume that I speak for the VCDL.
I am neither an attorney-at-law nor I do play one on television or on the internet. No one should assumes my opinion is legal advice.

register.com had DNS issues last night which affected AT&T, Cox, VZW, Comcast, and Level3. (I work at an Internet provider)

That's not always true. In cases where the web server is hosting more than one site, it uses the hostname that you used to determine which site to display for you. If the server is only hosting one site, though, then using the IP address in the URL would work.

Correct. In the case of this site, it IS hosted on a server that is hosting multiple web sites. So accessing it's IP at http://184.108.40.206 would *not* work. The only way to have made it work would be to add a static host entry in your hosts file:

On Linux/Mac, its in /etc/hosts
On Windows its in \WINDOWS\drivers\etc\hosts
This is a file that is a "DNS override", if you will..
Though, this is not recommended you do this because if you add that override in your hosts file, then a year down the road DC changes their IP number... you will have the wrong one.

Ok thats it! After reading some of the conspiracy comments here, I am beginning to think that stocking up on all that tin foil was not all for nothing and I am now prepared to break it out and start making hats.
C'mon guys, the internet is going to have a hiccup every once in a while.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.

I realize the internet gets funky from time to time. By the way.....have you priced tin foil lately!? And to think, I called my local recycler today and they are only paying 30¢ per lb for aluminum cans!

What, all the gun related forums have the same hiccup at the same time?
Not making any hat's here, not exactly feeling reassured either.
