    Funny comment on OC

So its a warm Sunday and I need a few things at the grocer for dinner. I am in jeans and a t-shirt with my holstr on, jump in the ecar and head to Kroger, not even thinking about it. I grab my items, and go through the checkout where the clerk (looks to be mid 40's) says to me "Is that a real gun?". I respond "it most certainly is". On the way home I was annoyed I didn't have a snappy comeback. Reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy and "Here's your sign".

That is the only thing anyone has ever said to me when carrying. Got a chuckle out of it.

Seems to me that "yes" is as snappy as you need to be. The point isn't to draw attention to yourself.

There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I just bought my first pistol about two weeks ago, but started OC'ing during spring break last week. McDonald's was the second place I OC'ed and one of the employees leaned over as I was ordering and was like "hey man," and I figured what was coming next was "you can't be carrying that if you aren't a cop" but he said, "if you pop a cap in her (the lady taking my order) nobody will tell!!" as a joke!!!

It took me a while to change gears mentally, but I laughed and so did they, but it was completely unexpected!

OC isn't an attention magnet, the vast majority of people don't even notice.

people notice...they just dont make a deal of it...i'm not against it...i just believe its naieve to believe it doesnt draw attention...as this thread is actually proof that it does...a whitty remark probably would have been appreciated by the person who questioned it...making light of the situation just humanizes it more...the "i tried carrying a police officer but he got too heavy" line probably would have been great forsome laughs from everyone involved...

Heh, I am reminded of when I was a kid and had just gotten my hands on Megatron. For the older generation, this was a toy that transformed from a robot into a Walther P38 and it was gun colored meaning chromed plastic and gray with removable stock, scope and barrel extension attachments. So for those not familiar with guns or even those that were, at first glance it could look extremely real. So I had it with me at a pizza place showing it off to my friends that I was with and the waitress came up and timidly asked if it was a real gun. Yep, 10 year old kid opening handling his Walther P38. Ahhh, the days before toy guns were orange.

Sure some people will notice. Most won't -- assuming you are in a place that legally allows OC. My point was to not draw attention to yourself which would increase the number of folks that would notice.

Of course, those of us in FL don't have the OC option.
