No offense intended here.
I was not talking about weapon handling but now that you brought it up when I was younger I shot on a bullseye league with my father and several police officers and personally witnessed a few incidents of poor weapon handling safety by a few of the police officers. The civilian shooters were always more careful.
I attribute their complacency to the gun just being another tool on their belt.
Just because they wear a uniform does not mean they are any more capable of safe firearm handling.

No offense taken. And I will agree that some officers, especially the new breed of officers have very little firearms experience. But I was alluding more to the fact that we cannot assume just because a private citizen is wearing a GUNSITE shirt and NRA hat that they are safe to encounter, either weapons competant, or mentally compentant.
