Complete with recording device for those pesky OC hating LEOS...

    Just kidding.

    All jokes aside...

Form the OC lunch in back in VA in Sep of 2008. Also pictured are Jason Rogers (left) and Pro2a(right) and their spouses.

All of my OWB rigs would make good OC rigs, above I was carrying in a Galco Avenger which I have since replaced with a Hoffner Hybrid Warrior as I prefer a nice stout body shield.

    Hoffner Hybrid & other gear.

Why do people keep the hammer cocked? That just seems dangerous. Could be my ignorance, though.
A CCW is like a parachute; if you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again.

^^ You should look at the multiple threads we've had about carrying with one in the chamber/cocked and locked.

If you're not familiar with the 1911s (and a few others) manual of arms, it probably won't make sense.

The 1911 or any other single action only automatic must have the hammer cocked in order for it to fire, pulling the trigger does not cock and release the hammer, it only releases it. The 1911 features a couple safety devices to prevent accidentally dropping the hammer until you are ready to fire. Cocked and locked (the cocked hammer, thumb safety engaged, also called condition 1) is completely safe.

    Edited to add:
While the search indexes have not yet been rebuilt, our Reference Section is still available and it's not that difficult to find a lot of answers there just by viewing the three pages of threads and seeing what's there:

JD explained very well why people keep the hammer cocked. You carry a 1911 cocked and locked, and it is not dangerous at all.
