Bill to Ban Open Carry in California Fails to Get Vote, and Dies

A bill in the California State Legislature to ban the open carry of unloaded handguns failed to get a vote, and has died when the legislature ajourned.

The Bill would have made it a crime to openly carry an unloaded handgun in public. While the bill was past by a committee vote of 21-16, the full Assembly never took the bill up for a vote. Republican assemblymen had threatened to debate the bill to death, if it was brought up.

The bill, AB1934, had been sponsored by Democratic Assemblywoman Lori Saldana of San Diego.

Here is a photo of Ms Saldana testifying before the Assembly Committee in support of her bill. She explained that she was wearing a bullet proof vest to illustrate the extreme danger of gun violence that exists in California's cities:

How on earth do people like this woman get elected to public office??

By allowing the uneducated to vote.

Personally I wish it was only property owners and those that file an income tax return that had the right to vote, as they have the most at stake in this country.

Is it even legal for non-LEO personnel to have or wear a BP vest in CA?

Yep, they are legal to own and wear in California.

Pretty much cannot carry a loaded gun in the state, but at least you can wear a protective vest.

The law abiding citizens can still carry a club/paperweight in a holster. The murdering, raping, gangbanging, law breaking element will still have theirs loaded of course.
Good Lord, you couldn't make this stuff up.
