Open carry Event in FL Nov 6: held simultaneously in Daytona Beach, Tampa, St. Augus

The OPEN carrying of a weapon in Florida IS legal but in very limited instances now (thanks to Janet Reno). Florida Open Carry is a not for profit organizing events to bring to the public's attention that open carry is legal and safe but is, as codified infringing on our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

There are several events around the state but not in all areas. If you can come out, do. If there is not one in your area you should organize one. These events bring publicity and the law enforenment is advised of them so the "man with a gun" calls get tamped out and advised that we are legally carrying. If you are not able to attend and/or organize an event pass this on to youur friends, well pass it on anyway. I would really like to see one up in the panhandle...

You will need your saltwater fishing license to fish and you have to be fishing (or going to and from) to OC. Effective July 1, 2010 the Saltwater Shoreline Fishing license, which is available only to residents, is free from the county tax office. You can also get them at Walmart for .50 cents. 790.053 Open carrying of weapons.--
(1) Except as otherwise provided by law and in subsection (2), it is unlawful for any person to openly carry on or about his or her person any firearm or electric weapon or device.
(2) A person may openly carry, for purposes of lawful self-defense:
(a) A self-defense chemical spray.
(b) A nonlethal stun gun or dart-firing stun gun or other nonlethal electric weapon or device that is designed solely for defensive purposes.
(3) Any person violating this section commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. 790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.--

790.25 Lawful ownership, possession, and use of firearms and other weapons.--
(3) LAWFUL USES.--The provisions of ss. 790.053 and 790.06 do not apply in the following instances, and, despite such sections, it is lawful for the following persons to own, possess, and lawfully use firearms and other weapons, ammunition, and supplies for lawful purposes:
(h) A person engaged in fishing, camping, or lawful hunting or going to or returning from a fishing, camping, or lawful hunting expedition;
