I understand that the crowd here at DC may not be too sympathetic of this issue, but keep in mind that there are more underlying issues other than open carry on campus.

Fact. Open carry is not illegal at the University of Utah, and they know this. HOWEVER, they have gone to great lengths to try to keep people from doing so, and were using "secret rules" to enforce their opinion.

How can one obey an unlawful rule if it is a secret? Anywho...

Time to replace the trash with responsible people. LEO should know better and most do.

I've been looking. Haven't found it yet.

The gist was that if you were open carrying on campus and you had a CCW (CCW is required by law on Utah campuses), the enforcer would ask you to conceal. If you refused, you were escorted from campus. Repeat offenders would be arrested.

These are previously leaked ones.

It seems that these presidents are more concerned that people "feel safe" than they are that they are safe. These words were infamously spoken by the VT president before the tragedy. I've heard both the UofU president and the UVU president say the same thing since.

Here is the latest one: http://local.sltrib.com/upload/2011/01/univ_policy_open_cary.pdf

:35: Very nice. But it was usually the president putting us on..., nevermind.

Reminds me of the Monty Python bit

"He said I had transgressed the unwritten law"

"What law was that?"

"I don't know-its not written down..."

Is it the function of colleges to educate or brainwash? I am getting the feeling that "Higher Education" is an oxymoron unless you are talking about smoking dope in a class room

#12 ·
Clearly a product of our higher education system - JK.

I have followed this story. Secret rules do not sound like the kind of thing that was once permissible in the USA. Not a good sign.

Does anyone know if this college is of the leftist or conservative variety? I would bet it tends to lean left....

A few "OFFICERS" exposed it, and provided "private" emails , etc. of school administration, and were consequently fired for it. I thought, but would not swear to it, that they were suing for their jobs back. So, an OFFICER is HONEST, and gets fired ? ? That's wrong on several levels. We know who should have been fired, all of those that came up with this strategy and tried to push it on the officers.

Bluto: Hey! What's all this laying around stuff? Why are you all still laying around here for?
Stork: What the hell are we supposed to do, ya moron? We're all expelled. There's nothing to fight for anymore.
D-Day: [to Bluto] Let it go. War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one.
Bluto: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: [to Boon] Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
