    First OC while fishing in Florida

    OCed today while kayak fishing in Florida. It was cold, but it went well. I saw some people fishing from the bank, but nobody could see the weapon. I needed to test out my new Serpa holster, which performed admirably.

    Since nobody could see your gun from the bank I'm guessing all went well. And since you didn't mention anything about being stopped by the man to show your fishing license again all is well. Now for another important question. Did you catch any fish? Happy to hear that your new Serpa performed as you wished.

    Have any luck shootin' any fish? Bullet placement is everything. Go for COG - a Center Of Gill shot.

    I got stopped to show my license a few weeks ago. I did manage to catch about 10 speckled trout on mud minnows, shrimp, and artificials. That was the only species biting today. I'm still waiting to catch my slot red that I can take home and eat.

    I can't believe you were out on the water today! I live REALLY close to you, and can tell you that I stayed nice and toasty in my house all day. Congrats on your trout as well, any keepers?

    Uh.....I don't think openly carried sidearms is legal in the state of FL.

    Allowed going to/from/while hunting & fishing. It's very restricted, but legal in limited circustances.

    Your right. I looked it up after I posted. Extreemly restricted.

    Florida Statute 790.25:

    (3) LAWFUL USES.--The provisions of ss. 790.053 & 790.06 do not apply in the following instances, and, despite such sections, it is lawful for the following persons to own, possess, and lawfully use firearms and other weapons, ammunition, and supplies for lawful purposes:

    (h) A person engaged in fishing, camping, or lawful hunting or going to or returning from a fishing, camping, or lawful hunting expedition;

    Seems clear enough to me. There are no restrictions listed in the law.

    The open carry bill is in the works, and if it becomes law, would become effective July of this year.

    Yea I went to Simpson Creek. It was a bit chilly, but I was bundled up. After about 5 hours, my buddy and I started getting colder, and since he wasn't catching much, we decided to leave. I caught probably 3 keepers, but I didn't keep any.
