It's a Columbia County Sheriff's Officer in full uniform standing behind the ticket taker. I do not know if he was on or off duty.

I think I got lucky with the type of crowd, and it was very unusual for a weekend movie. It seemed like a "we all go to the same church group on Wednesday night" crowd. As we waited for the previews to start, I heard bible and church talk and people kept coming in and recognizing other families they knew so for all I know, it was a prearranged event for most of them. I was blatantly aware of being in the "Bible Belt". Of course, this made for a very vocal crowd as the moms didn't care for the blood and violence. I think they were expecting more John Wayne style camp. A family left during the brutal cabin scene.

I didn't think that this version was much darker than the original 1969 version. The cabin scene was very much like the original save for LeBeouf not being there when Quincy does in Moon for spilling what he knows about Lucky Ned Pepper (In the new one Matt Damon's LeBeouf doesn't show up until right before Ned Pepper shows up while in the old one LeBeouf, Rooster, & Maddie are never separated once they start out. In both versions, new & old, Quincy chops off Moon's fingers and then thrusts his knife into Moon's torso before Rooster shoots Quincy dead. In both versions you see the fingers fly off of the table and plenty of blood.

I was pleasantly suprised on how the new version turned out. It was very close to the original but different enough to stand on its own merit!

In deference to those of us that haven't seen it yet, can spoiler posts have a title indicating such?

    Thanks

Scaring non gun people does NONE of us any good. I am not a fan of OC but each to his own.

lol, not trick or treating, but I might if I could get away with it. I'm just a fan of the holiday.

But, if you've got kids and are out, and can't get the costume you're wearing to work with CCW, why not? ;)

Someone has to hand out the candy to all the little ungrateful bast----!!! I think most of the talk this year was dads escorting little ones.

Just busting your chops guys... My wife dresses up to pass out candy too. The wife even has costumes for the dogs to wear. They look so humiliated.

I just dress up as a paramedic as I usually end up working on Halloween.

I hate it when the theater crowd shoots the bad guy on the screen.

In order to correct a post typed in ALL CAPS - we would need to retype your entire post so just try to remember not to do it in the future.

I think a scene from the movie applies here:

Defense attorney- Mr. Cogburn, when you showed up at the scene were your revolvers cocked and loaded?

Rooster Cogburn- If they ain't cocked and loaded they don't shoot.

    Great movie !
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.

Funny stuff in this thread, great early morning read.
I'm in favor of gun control -- I think every citizen should have control of a gun.

I just assume a guy posting in ALLCAPS is Carl, from "Sling Blade".
A lot of good points on this thread. Open carry I assume is unloaded in the OP's state? Cocked and locked beats a hammer everytime. I'm with Rooster on that one.
Here in California the cops look hard for people carrying real weapons on halloween. One of my buddies outside a halloween party 20years ago was told to put his single six in the car, but open carry was legal. He didn't argue, just waited til the cop left and got it back out, wasn't going to let it get stolen in that bad neighborhood.
The "paid admission" clause is just weird.
I would have loved to hear the drunk woman's story at the bar later on that evening.
