That's funny. I saw somebody mention CCW badges recently in the thread about the T-shirt and I didn't realize they were serious. I didn't know those really existed. But when I went to the gun show last weekend there was a booth there selling them. I actually considered buying one but they wanted like $80 for one and I didn't see the point since I would not actually go around wearing it. If it had been like $10 I might have bought one just for the novelty.

dbrown to answer your question, it is legal in indiana to open carry. We also now have a preemption law that goes in effect today, the only law of the land is state law now.

I was under the assumption that OC was perfectly legal in MO and that only certain areas of KC and St. Louis banned it.

Yeah like that they should go commit their crime else where. Take away my chance to put a notch on my barrel and get my picture in the paper for being a hero.

OC is legal in MO. Art. 1 Sec. 23 of the Missouri Constitution.
    You may want to visit:

It's free, make up a user name and password, then go to "missouri".
We are active and growing, esp. in STL area and K.C.
There is a statute that allows local pre-emption to the State law on OC.

I just wish i had the option of OCing here in big Tex!! At least you have that option. I'd sell all my little pea shooters that have to be concealed & proudly wear my hogleg or 1911/G17/XDM.

UMM....There is no state law prohibiting OC; ergo OC is legal, US law is based on prohibitions not permissions, what is not illegal is legal. Missouri does allow cities to prohibit OC but in 90% of the state OC is legal.

It's funny though that most people that are misinformed think that you can OC in Texas! I have read several posts on the forums I frequent, when people that OC are confronted or have interactions about OCing, I see phrases like "You can't OC, this ain't Texas!" lol

I've seen several open carry here in Tennessee, one guy comes in where I work several times a week always carrying. Seems to be no trouble with it around here.

I have not seen a single one in Indiana yet and i have been here a year now. (Good Lord, Help me) but I would see open carriers quite often in West Tennessee where we lived. It was common and no one freaked out at all. I miss that a lot. of course I miss everything about West Tennessee.
I just heard Wednesday, a guy was OCing in Evansville, IN. He went to the local zoo and was told he couldn't go in with his gun. The zoo is now being sued over the 2nd amendment.

I don't see many people in my area OCing, he is only the second person that I have seen OCing. So when I see someone OCing I find myself staring at his gun like it's an old muscle car, especially when it's a nice 1911.
I do the same thing, I just love staring at carry pieces! haha

I used to OC on occasion when I lived in Knoxville and never had an issue. Here in Florida that obviously isn't going to happen but I have been noticing something strange.

I have have spotted more people here who I'm 99% sure were carrying "concealed" than I ever did in TN. And I've only been here 2 months.
You would think that because FL is a CC only state people who do a better job of concealing than they would in TN. Until recently there was also a penalty if your gun was accidentally exposed in Florida.

Maybe I'm just getting better at spotting CCers but I've already spotted 2 just in the last few months. One was an older guy who must have been toting a freaking desert eagle under his button down shirt. He was printing so badly I could not help but chuckle. Good for him though!

Quite an imagination there. Even in stories that I've read where a citizen successfully defends himself, I don't see much "hero" talk.

And the notches go on the grip, not the barrel. If you're gonna write fantasy, get it right.

This is true, the zoo is not private property, Indiana law says they cannot ban legally carried handguns!

sobalosa, My understanding is that OC is determined by locality in Missouri. Most municipalities around St. Louis have laws prohibiting OC but it is legal in other areas. You must be aware of where you try it. (I don't try it) I feel like you do it just advertises to the bad guys.
I was never a hero, but I am thankful I served among them.
