Saw my first open carry person yesterday
We stopped at Sam's Club to look at new TV's and ended up buying a 40 inch Magnavox. This was to replace a 3 day old RCA that we had to take back.
As we were looking at the TV's and looking for someone to get us one on a flat cart, we headed over to the counter where they sell cell phones. My daughter went over there first and said to me, "Look that guy has a gun."
Sur enough a customer was standing at the cell phone counter and was wearing a gun in a kydex holster on his left hip. He was with his 10 or so year old son. The sales clerk didn't seem freaked out but the guy had already been dealing with the clerk for a little while so I don't know if anything was said at first or not.
I really didn't get close enough to the guy to see what he had on. I don't think it was a glock, it may have been an M&P. It appeared to be a higher capacity mag than my glock 27.
We finally found someone in the tv section and got our tv.
I was pocket carrying my snub nose 38.
When we left the store there were no armed swat members covering the exits so I guess there was no MWAG calls made.

What? And you didn't go running and screaming for the hills? Mayhem didn't ensue? It didn't jump out of the holster and start puking lead?

Why would you call the swat team if the guy had a gun in the holster?
We went to a few state parks today, I OC'ed all day not a second look was drawn; which was nice cause it was hot and humid and not having leather gluing itself to my skin was comforting. There is no doubt a convenience factor to OC.

You didn't say how old your daughter was, but it amazes me how quickly the "little" people can spot a gun.
If you can read this, thank a teacher. Because it's in English, thank a vet

Yeah, even here in AZ (aka the Wild West) OC is not that common in urban and suburban areas. I like to OC in Wally World and Sam's Club occasionally for fun, and have never had a problem.

I think the younger ones can spot them so well because they're more at eye level.

Since I've started carrying I pay more attention, and I can spot those whom are concealing. Atleast they appear to be concealing, remember concealed is concealed. The only open carrying I've seen was when on vacation in CO. A young guy on a bike OC'd and his weapon and holster because they were black blended in with the rest of his wardrobe. I'll bet most people didn't notice and I didn't think twice about it. Actually I was glad to see people carrying.

This is the way people should react. As long as the person is acting responsibly there is no reason to panic and have a fit. After all, you wouldn't freak out over someone driving a convertible with the top down, would you?

I just saw in our local paper where a group of OCers got together to have a cookout at a local park, I may hafta go there next time myself.

In my opinion, in states where OC is legal--people and LEOs both can get over it.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"A man here has the country's deadliest weapon!"
"Can you describe the weapon?"
"Yes, it's a big car."
"Ma'am, cars are legal."
"Yeah, so is the gun on his hip, but the car is much more dangerous!"

Obviously this story is false as there were not 7 police officers, 5 people with cell phone cameras and he did not have his lawyer on speaker phone telling him he just had this feeling his "1st amendment" rights were about to be violated.

I'm floored that his gun didn't jump out of its holster and go on a murderous rampage.
That's what the gun haters keep telling us will happen.
